New Deadlift PB: 175KG :)

Was going to attempt a new 1RM squat today, but am still feeling it from yesterdays efforts!

Welcomes me to the 400 Kilo club :D, If you could update the first post please FF. Thanks.

Well done! :) I'm still edging closer to the 600kg club, but it'll take time! I'll update the post now.

You son of a *****!!! I don't think I'll ever see 600KG's! I'm using straps at current. 10 reps of 120 and the bars slipping through my finger tips. No way I could hold 175 naturally! Need to look into some resitance squeezy grips and see if that helps.

I don't know how on earth Bennidict Magnusson can hold 426KG's with just chalk, though the fact his forearms are probaly the size of my thighs may have something to do with it!:p

I haven't started using straps yet - fortunately my grip isn't causing me issues yet. 210 was easy enough on the grip, but there will be a limit, I have straps for other exercises, such as BORs etc as I want to concentrate on the lift and not worry about grip - but DLs I find it easier to grip the bar as I get a better feel for it.

My goal is to be on 600kg by summer next year. I have it in me to get 250kg DL by then I know. I also have it in me to get 150kg bench by then... it's just that 200kg squat, I think I'm going to need some knee supports and I'm doing more front squats at the moment... but we'll see!

Keep it up mate :) Set your own challenges, not other people's. I'm pushing myself very very hard at the moment, but bear in mind that I've also been doing it for 2 years now and had a pretty decent base to start off with. :)

I'm finding my grip is starting to go a lot on back days even with straps, I feel I'm going to have to pussy out and get some meaty hooks rated at 700 kilos that I have seen not that I could ever lift that just nice to know they can take a good thrashing.

Can we update my Bench to 110KG please :)

Thought after attempting to hit one 1RM on deadlift I would give Bench a go too before I came home for Xmas.

Considering i've been on Dumbells and aiming for size, having made a small strength gain I am happy. Brought it down far enough to count the lift. If i brought it down to chest, my shoulders didnt have the strength scince my injury to push that much weight foward from that far back. Still did it twice (2 seperate sets of 1 rep) with backs of arms parralell to floor.

Going to have to start from scratch with deadlifts, form isnt good enough with 150KG plus.

Still im happy with my progress for a semesters training, including being ill on and off for 2 weeks! Made some nice size gains too 1" on my chest. Not sure how much on shoulders as I hadnt measured before.

No disrespect to you as you have an injury... But it pees me off when I see people doing this....

They just do 1/2 reps which IMO are quater reps given how it's so much harder to touch your chest and go..

I think I could bench 100kg+ for at least 6 reps doing the half rep method

Theres a couple of pretty big guys who always load like 130-150kg every session then do half rep sets.. when they get a bit tired they end up doing half rep spotted sets :eek::eek::eek: It is just pure pointless-ness when you're getting help doing half half reps.

'I can bech 160kg.. But only bring it half way down and my mate gives me a tiny bit of help to guide it (He rows it with all his force)'

The guys that chuck 50kg on the bar and do half reps with assistance the whole time pee me off just as bad but they could just be un-educated :(

I know what you mean. On DB Press, I bring the DB's right back till the inner plates are touching the front of my shoulders and push from right back. Just something I cant do with a bar that heavy. So perhaps my Bench 1rm should stay where it is for now.

When repping anythng weather it be bench, shoulder press, DB press etc etc I bring the weights as far down as I can, nothing as bad as knowing you've cheated a rep

Arm position (in regards to parallel to the floor) means nothing, what matters is whether the bar touches your chest.
A good arch and a big chest will shorten the range of motion meaning that the arms dont go down so low.

benny, with DBs, be careful that you don't lower the arms too far.
