OcUK Powerlifting Totals

60kg dumbbell bench at 67k bw? I don't think people are really letting what Morba is saying sink in. If those numbers are right we have more than 1 record beating British lifter in this thread.

Which considering this is primarily a computing forum gives me a slight niggle in the back of my mind

PL standard benching is hard, I've had a couple of goes in my gym and waiting for that clap when you are at the bottom of the lift seems like forever.

What you have to remember about non competition lifting is that one guys interpretation of a 1RM lift is completely different from another guys.

Plenty of guys in my gym will talk up big numbers, only to actually move the bar a few inches once unracked. To them its a big bench, to others more knowledgable its a joke. But it all depends what you are training for. If they've obtained a good physique (or whatever their goal is) training this way - fair play to them.

But there are plenty of strong boys on here - I've met several and many of us have posted videos/pictures.

it is entirely possible mind. This is a huge forum with lots of people, couple that with knowing records are only made by people that attempt them and you have potential for some very strong people.
Didn't think we would have as many as we do though.

thats very true like i said i dont doubt the guys its just quite a surprise

Paz, you've only met me, SPW and Jonny_L - I agree that Jonny is a beast an a half though! :D :D :D

600kg will be mine this year - watch this space.

Haha, if only, some of these lifts are insane, I havn't tried mine out in ages, currently on 5 x 5 though so hopefully in a couple of months I'll give these a go and see what I get, will have to make a special trip to the uni gym to bench though (weighted push ups atm, which are really hard but I love, the core takes a battering as well ). I heavily doubt I will get even half of some of these lifts, I'm in awe.

Here is a true test of strength for everyone on bench (a comp we just finished at our local gym)

Weigh ones self

Put that weight on the bench press (own body weight)

Now bench as many as u can with a stop at the bottom of each press, no bounce a definate stop almost a competition lift just a shorter stop and no back lifting of the bench, i did then with legs stright out flat on bench

The number to beat is 22 reps

I drew at 95 kgs with someone who was 85 kgs (but im 42 and he was 23 lol)
So no matter what u weigh u pushing ur own body weight good luck !!!!

"It just annoys me that I can be this strong yet not put on the mass I would expect from lifting what I do" The weight isn't that significant when aiming for mass as your training partner proves.
