OcUK Powerlifting Totals

darkshadow, you should look at competing. Depending on your age you could win british champs and even set some records.
I'm 21. I can't say I've ever considered it. A few guys have said to me I should seriously consider it. In all honesty I think I could have surpassed these numbers a lot sooner but I've just taken things as they've came, training alone.

My issue is my priorities lie elsewhere in life. I also wouldn't want to be in a position of in a more vulnerable position in getting injured (silly concern, I know). Safe to say I haven't had any dangerous encounters yet. If I were to compete in a sport it would definitely be boxing, I excelled in the ring but a lot things changed in my life over the past few years, so I was unable to pursue that.

Out of interest where would I look to for the figures you stated and a little more information on the divisions?

Cheers Morba.

ki - That's a crazy weight for front squat!!! Congrats

Go on then.

BW: 75KG
Front Squats: 125KG 2RPM (havent done back squats in a while so will edit this when I do some.)
Bench: 110Kg 1RPM
Deadlift: 180KG 1RPM

Amazing lifts in this thread at the moment, --ki-- do you like front squats as I personally find them more comfortable than than the usual back squat?

I'm more comfortable on the front but can go heavier on the back. I've not had the oppurtunity to go above 90KG for the front squat. Something I'm not willing to try without a power cage/squat rack. Whilst I know I wouldn't be far off my back squat I don't want to risk accident/injury messing around with olympic bars inside the smith.

Ditto.

I've done around 120 on front at my best, but not done front squats for a while. Put 180 on my back and I feel much more stable.

I mainly started front squatting over back squatting as I read on strong lifts 5x5 that it has better form and forces you to keep you back straight or the bar drops. It feels comfortable but can become a pain literally depending on the grip you use, I go for arms crossed over each other, or palms clasped for weights 100KG or lower, I dont seem to have the flexibility to do the arm bendy traditional way and end up destroying my wrists.

I have also been toying with hack squats to improve my front squats and deadlifts, I can do 150kg relatively comfortably for 5 reps but that was after a heavy deadlift and front squat set so had not much in the tank. I still find that the turkish getup has given me my greatest gains especially now I can do 50kg using the barbell. The core and explosive leg strength are great.

One of the lads at my local gym holds a deadlift world record his weight is 67.5 kg at 18 years old and he lifted 186kg. I'd need to pull 195kg just to qualifiy:(

Same. Very impressive strength/weight ratios!

Is form something that is assessed during the lift. Obviously a squat needs to be to parralell and a deadlift needs to be a dead weight. Are things like shoulders being pulled foward, rounded back etc and the likes accounted for in the lift? Obviously these are essential for safety but at heavy weight keeping good form, as we all know, can be tough.

Or is it purely a case of moving x amount of weight in said motion will cound as a pass for that lift?

there is form elements to it, benching has some quite specific rules where form is concerned. Also timing comes into it, bar is unracked you are then told when you can lower bar and also when to lift it again.
None of this lopsided lifting, heels of ground, bum off bench business :p

60kg dumbbell bench at 67k bw? I don't think people are really letting what Morba is saying sink in. If those numbers are right we have more than 1 record beating British lifter in this thread.

Jeez, some of you guys are monsters!

I thought me doing 145kg on a deadlift at 65kg was something.

But 60kg dumbbell presses takes on a new meaning of extreme. Even the heavest guys at my college gym only use those for rows and such, never for chest.
