RE the deadlift world record, apparently it doesn't stand (not sure if this is accurate) but people are saying because it was a university event and he was a non-university competitoralong with the fact that it wasn't actually drug tested. This doesn't make much sense to me if I'm honest, if its true. The only real thing which supports it as true is that the event was organised and run by my club so I'm hearing this at the gym quite often.

Even if it doesn't count as a world record its still a damn impressive lift. Does anybody know if it does actually stand as a new world record?

This would make sense. It needs to be recognised judges under a recognised comp iirc. Also it would need to be said to be drug tested or drug free, so that it could be assigned the correct record.

Even if its not official and he is on gear, i couldn't care. The lifts are immense regardless :)

Squat: 147.5kg (have 150 in gym but not too bothered about 2.5kg)
Deadlift: 175kg

My bench in the comp was bellow pb because of the pause at the bottom :(.

BW for the lifts was 73.1kg but am now 77kg again so I dont mind what the final is.

Cool stuff. I like the way you struggle half way with 175KG, then once it's past your knees, it shoots up. :p That's the opposite of me, I can get 200KG up to past my knees, but once my lower back comes in to it, it stops moving completely. :( Gonna have to work on some rack pulls, I think that's limiting my squat as well.
 
Thanks everyone, I'm actually a little annoyed with my squat because I reckon I could have gotten the 155 if I didn't go A2G. Oh well there's always next time :)

Yeah I do love deadlifts, its a bit of a goal to get 200 by easter. I know its a big ask and I know I might not get there but I quite like having something to aim for :). If I ever get to be abke to do 250 then I'll be a very happy man :)

Can't help but feel you might have psyched yourself out by spending a little too long setting up for your final DL attempt? For me if I've not approached, set up and started ripping it up within about 10 seconds then it always feels heavier!

iirc he messed up his belt somehow...? But yeah I agree. It's funny when you get up there a lot of common sense goes out of the window; really, having bent down and had a problem, he should have stood up and completely reset.

To be fair I did something far more stupid. I was confused by the bar markings and ended up with a wonky grip that I didn't notice until half way up :o
 
Yeah I did mess it up if I'm honest. I did my belt up too tight and didn't fully think about it until it had already distracted me. By that point though I had been lifting all day and hadn't been very sensible with my pre-comp diet so I was just drained. It's a really wierd feeling actually, your mind is raring to go but your body is like its stuck in treacle. But oh well, there are definately a few thing to take away for next time :).

I'm planning on doing some new pb's end of January (ish) so hopefelluy I'll smash the ones I've just put up :D

Crap session, failed my very first DL workout but I managed to hit my 190KG DL for 3 reps raw. For the very first time I managed to graze some skin off in the center of my palms. I really think my hands hate me!
 
Might as well get 97.5kg @ 95 bw put on the Push press board (if you would FF pls).

It was for reps, but it's the most weight i've PPed since the board was started so we'll start with that.
 
Dropped a 280kg deadlift on thurs, had straps on as well, really wasn't happy with how tight I had them once I was 2/3rds of the way up, could have got to to top of rep (I think at least!).
Will try again in a few months, time to relax and enjoy Xmas I think!

Bloody good effort though! Before I threw the towel in I deadlifted 270kg and got the bugger above my knees but couldn't fully lock out:(, all I used was chalk!
 
Good one! Really can't do anything high weight without straps now, bloody thumb :(

So you not tempted to get back into it?
I don't have the heart in it anymore to be honest, the temptation is there, but not having anyone to spot me can get a bit scary sometimes.
