not having anyone to spot me can get a bit scary sometimes.

you can say that again.

I had a very busy week with a few deadlines to meet and Wednesday I went to the gym rather tired. Squats and Deadlifts were ok, there was a guy screaming like hell with 100kg on the bench press doing some reps while his spotter was bicep curling a lot of the weight.
Since I can usually do 8-10 reps with 100 I just asked him if I could jump in while he rest. I wanted to get done quickly so I started with no warmup and failed my 3rd rep with 100 looking like a complete idiot.:mad: So lame to end up with a side of the bar on your chest looking helpless with no spotter. :(


At least this weekend was decent, managed two new PBs - Squat at 160 and Deadlift at 210. Nowhere near as impressive as some of the guys on this topic but we all gotta start somewhere. :o

Well I might have chosen the wrong word I guess, It's been about two years since I've laid my hand on a barbell, but that was with initially missing some important exercises, significant periods of not training legs about a year ago because I had to walk a lot and the DOMS wouldn't agree with that plus no access to a gym for some periods while not at uni.


I'm 6ft 2 and about 98kg, arm measurement and bw are the same as 1.5 years ago but I've lost a few inches off my waist and got significantly stronger so it's not that bad. :)
 
There was no one else in the gym today (apart from a few cardio bunnys) so I attempted my 130 Bench press in the squat rack instead but I didn't have it in me. :(

I'l have to wait at 125 for now, I'll get 130 after Christmas.

Can i request an overdue update :).

Squat: 147.5kg (have 150 in gym but not too bothered about 2.5kg)
Deadlift: 175kg

My bench in the comp was bellow pb because of the pause at the bottom :(.

Videos are from the comp 2 weeks ago. Thought I might as well put the whole thing up, saves time.

BW for the lifts was 73.1kg but am now 77kg again so I dont mind what the final is.

It's my 'week off' so I went in specifically for deads today.

Previous PB for DL 190KG before I went abroad for 6 weeks. I come and set myself a goal of 200KG and 500KG for all 3 before the new year.

Here's how it went:


1st attempt: 195KG - PB
2nd attempt: 200KG - PB
3rd attempt: 210KG albeit funny form - PB

Given that I attempted PB for reps on squats two days ago (on my week off) I was absolutely drained but I'm confident I can clean up that form and go a bit heavier. The ironic thing was I wasn't trying like I usually do, it was just lifting.

That's 20KG above my first attempt at PB since Aug :)

bloody excellent that fella. nice one :)

it might be the camera angle, but it looked like you started with your shoulders below your ass? while its not my preference, it shows that your back is strong as you were removing a lot of the leg work :)
 
Wow DS! Amazing lifting there, how much do you weigh again? That's given me motivation to smash deadlifts tonight. My second deadlift session since over a month's break. 175kg was my previous PB, did 190k last week and I'm going to try to break 200kg today.

This will be my last update for an unconfirmed period of time, I seem to have done something to my lower back (I think muscle's) I was messing around with the kids over new year :( So I am unavoidably treating myself to some rest :mad: Hate doctors...

There will always be a person in last place - I'm sure you can undoubtedly lift more than most people on the forum anyway ;)
