Had my first ever go at bench pressing yesterday, been at the gym less than a week, managed 60kg. I'll have a go squat and deadlift soon :) My body weight is 74.7kg

How long does it you guys on average take to be able to lift a heavier weight? My goal right now is my own body weight.

^^ provided you're training at a sensible load %. It's very tempting as a beginner to keep hammering away at weights that are too heavy to be useful.

Nightmare, any news on the belt?

:/ give them a ring when they're next open mate. If it makes you feel any better, a guy who I train with had a problem with his lever belt and it was sorted quickly.

I'm sorry it's being so annoying for you mate. Try and get hold of Andy, he's the guy I spoke to and he seemed to have his head screwed on. What size did you go for? I'm guessing you got a small but on the off chance you're a medium he could still be waiting for his shipment. Regardless, I agree it isn't the best display of customer service. They have answered the phone every time I've called though so maybe have a chat and discuss your options.

I did get a medium ( use the 5th set of holes ), I'll give them a call Monday if I haven't gotten a reply by then.

You wouldn't have a popper sheer off your core ;)

What? I don't understand that sentence at all.

Bench is coming along nicely. Used to press around 150kg when I was 20 but stopped training. Back up to 120kg at the moment and climbing steadily. Hoping to be back at the 150kg+ beginning June. Can feel it in the old joints though :/

actually that means that your muscles are getting stronger at a much faster rate than your joints, which are not used with such weights.

give it some time and they should accomodate.
I remember when I started lifting my wrists would feeling like going pop with as little as 80kg on the bar. Now I have no trouble holding 130 kg even though it's a struggle pressing the weight.

I think you missed me, FF :) popped up to 100kg dead lift today, Woot!! So I'm now:

MoNkeE -------- 65 / 100(+) / 100(+) -------- [77] ---- 265

Reckon I've got a lot more in the tank for it as well, but did about 6 sets working up to that! It was also for 5 reps!
