OCUK Rolling Road 11 - Saturday March 19th 2011 - Eurospec, Guildford - Pictures, graphs, discussion

I can still hear those two Westfields. I stood right in the garage bit for both runs and it was mental!

I can still feel the drill bit that hit my shoulder as it vibrated off the roof of the Dyno area!

I want a Westfield/Caterham/Equivalent so badly. Have to sort out some debts first :(

There was no problem with running the Porsche and had he have been a forum member it wouldn't have been such a problem for some, but because he was someone's friend everyone moans. Hadley, don't feel bad or anything remotely close for inviting friends, we are all car enthusiasts at the end of the day, members of OCUK or not!

I think the problem here is obvious.

Eurospec were expecting to be operating a rolling road day. What normally happens at rolling road days is that everybody turns up, socialises, eats pizza at the venue (or whatever) and stays there all day.

Problem is, some at OcUK were expecting what happened at powerstation, where we had a rolling road morning, because hardly anybody turned up compared with the numbers who turned up at eurospec. If everybody went home after Powerstation, everybody would be going after 3 or 4 hours and possibly doing a 2 hour or more round trip for 3 or 4 hours at the venue. Which is pointless.

I think people need to re calibrate their expectations as to what this day was about. If you choose a venue to get lots of people to turn up - which is what was done. Then you can't expect to do it all in a morning and then spend the afternoon in a pub.

Cheers for organising the RR Kosta. I had fun, was great to see (and hear!) such a variety of cars and to speak with you guys. Apologies for not being the most social then being a flop and leaving early, I was really feeling the night before! Hopefully next time I'll come in a proper car instead of in one of Enterprises finest :)

That's a good point actually, I've only every been to 2 car meets before, both organised on ClioSport.net, so naturally the variety of cars is fairly limited. I had a great day seeing and hearing some cars that I would never normally see up close, like the Westfields, the M3s (I personally don't see many about), the Monaro (stole the show for me, not at all what I was expecting). Brilliant day :)

Ha thanks! I didn't remember seeing anyone watch my car.. I wanted to cry :p

The guy who ran mine (Romain) said he wanted to keep the keys hehe :D

We were in the little room looking through the windows and watching the screen for the readout!

I'll bring the rex along for the next one - assuming I've got it running properly! Presently I know it's 222bhp, hopefully more like 250 when it's going well!

Yeah good day in all. Next NVP - we need to get more than 3 hours sleep! Oh and not to do that route back home again :p:(

PS - Poppy the dog was an added bonus :D

Your mate's afro made up for the antisocialness ;)
Haha! It is quite epic ain't it. He's the one that introduced me to these forums actually, although he doesn't venture into motors much as he has no car... or license... or concept of driving. Ask him about London buses and he'll Mastermind that s*** though :p

I really need to learn, just not much incentive now I have moved to London. Who needs to learn when I have you to drive me around ;):p:D?

I must admit that I have grown a liking for the Vauxhall Meriva - though would have liked to have seen your 325 on the dyno.

EDIT - So who won? How did the 911, M5 and Gibbo's fare against each other?

Think Princey was highest reading of owners cars, the 911 was the highest reading, but still about 100 hp down on what he expected, and the M5 didn't run it was only acquired the day before, and don't think PeterNem is really bothered, all I know is that even loaded with 5 fat people it bloody flies!

but on the other hand i get to read what everybody says and provide an impartial view point ;)

You don't ant won't know a full story if you are not there, so that is like reading the DM (or even wiki....) and proclaiming to know exactly what is what. ;)

I don't know why you're being defensive - i was merely making an observation.

I'm not, I'm just pointing out that you're trying to be a know-it-all and you clearly aren't aware of all of the facts as you were not there.

The 911 "won" but out of us lot - Princey with the Monaro won the power.. just ;) :p

1st - Princey - Monaro
2nd - Gibbo - Evo X
3rd - ScoobyDoo69 - Impreza STi

The M5 didn't run, was only there to spectate. It would have been great to run it though, and I'm sure all those not watching would have actually watched this one :p

Epic afro indeed though xibinim! & NVP - thanks for coming, I know it was hard work for you ;)

Howard, when my brakes are bedded in and I'm a bit more confident with them I will take you for a blast again, you seemed to enjoy it :D

Is he claiming to be a know it all though? or is he just commenting on it being bizarre that some people were surprised it took longer to get through the huge list of cars than it did at other venues, with less cars?

It was pointed out many times that other venues have taken much less time for the same number of cars, do keep up. ;)
