OcUK RTX4070 review thread

Can't really use that as a valid reason, hear me out, but everyone knows the 67xx/68xx/69xx series loves an undervolt. Here is my 6900XT which needs 3x PSU cables and ASRock recommends a 1kW PSU. Tom's hardware noted it used over 350w. This is mine with an undervolt.

Just saying you could have achieved this with your 6800 if you wanted. So I have a 6900XT using 20w more juice which actually makes it the same as the founders edition 4070 according to GN review. Tis' all. Enjoy the new card. :)

Funnily enough when I had a RX 6800 (XFX Merc) it only pulled around 180w of power anyway...

I still got the card, I use it in my Full ATX Build :)
only trouble I found is cold booting on turning on PC the monitor blank displays no picture & have to wait for the a PC auto reboot after 3/4mins
then its ok & booting into windows with picture & AMD Drivers error window pops up & the option to report the error, happened on 2 PC builds with diff hardware.

Glad you asked , I never thought of that, No Coil whine is my answer
Thanks for letting me know, I got the MSI 4070 Ventus for my other half and it whines badly, audible over the case fans and in-game sound from her speakers. Shame, it's a nice card otherwise, fans very quiet. I might look at the Zotac once I've sent it back... I'm just worried about getting another one that whines, the postage costs for returns add up! :)

Did they drop the price of any of the other ADA cards? 4080 and 4070ti are not selling that well and the margins on them will be huge Vs a 4070.

I guess it depends on the volume made. It looks like they thought they would sell loads of these at these prices, but they have been very much mistaken. If they have thousands rotting on shelves they will likely have no choice.

I can't see AIBs being that enthusiastic about buying more from Nvidia, if even the £550 aren't selling out quickly...

An extra 20w seems a fair trade for 4GB more VRAM. Do you get same performance as stock the these settings?
Yeah it's decent returns. I think I've lost some MHz for sure. Just looking at that screenshot as a rough example I'm already 50Mhz down on boost clocks. I should really check in game what my game clock is reduced by. But as I'm seeing triple digits for most games I don't care if I've lost Mhz/FPS as for the games I play I'm not struggling. The welcome reduction in wattage and temp is more preferable :) .

Anyone tried the Gainward Ghost yet?

If so how loud do the fans get? I know it's louder than the FE, but does that actually make it, y'know, a loud card?

Not sure but this might give you a frame of reference: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/gainward-geforce-rtx-4070-ghost/37.html

It's fairly middle of the pack compared to GPUs on average. Probably not that loud, not that quiet under load and techpowerup seems to think it has idle fan stop so presumably silent at idle.
