OcUK RTX4080 16GB review thread

I'm happy to stare nvidia down for another 2 years if I have to and I certainly won't be blinking first, I could be tempted on a 7900XTX though if it gets close to a 4090 in raster and doesn't cost much over 1k.
7900XTX looks like a decent card and what i would be looking at over a 4080 personally if the benchmarks hold up to be true BUT problem is i cant see that being cheap either and am sure i have seen gibbo mention it will be roughly £1200 when over here .. we shall see what happen with that

I think Gibbo said 1050-1100 for ref then 1100-1200 for AIB

1200 won't be too bad if the AIBs can get a serious OC on it we already know the 7900xtx is likely to be much faster than the 4080 so if it can close the gap to the 4090 from 10-15%to under 10% its not a bad deal compared to 4090.

I'd still rather they are lower than 1k though maybe we will get lucky and get £ surge before end of the month

Won't it be more then £1200 though. Due to UK inflation and taxes and the pound. £1200 for the direct from AMD edition and then £1200 - £1800 for the custom AIB versions. Just a guess but it matches what Nvidia is doing .
price fixing as high as they can go, so glad we dont have a monopoly to keep prices high

Find it funny miners still being blamed for high prices, months after mining stopped.

Its not the miners faults it's consumers.

Many people bought scalped cards and were willing to buy store scalped cards for near on 2 years.

All Nvidia have done is say "you're charging how much? Well I'll just charge that instead then I get it all"

As consumers we get what we deserve, if people are willing to pay the money they will keep increasing prices.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we see prices of £1200+ ... the $999 price was without tax afaik so as soon as its over here will get slapped with 20% plus retailers fees etc . The FE version or what ever it is called from AMD will likely be £1200 if you are lucky to get one with the rest going up from that point . Would be nice to see it at £1000 all in but cant see that happening .

Jesus, would you just for once take notice of how many times you have been told the 7900 XTX will not be £1200+ if the $999 MSRP is accurate (and we have no reason to believe it isn't).

The 4080 was $1199 and with current exchangre rates is just over £1000. £1000 + 20% VAT = £1200 and 4080 FE and the cheaper AIBs were aroung £1260. So we can argue they are overpriced, but the exhange rate to UK pricing was at times correct.

So if a 7900 XTX is $999 that equates to about £1009 with VAT. So as as you have already been told multiple times, the 7900 XTX MBA Reference cards should start at about £1050, NOT £1200+

Or to put it even simpler. If the MSRP of the 4080 is $1200 and they were sold here for £1200 plus, how on earth will a $999 MSRP card sell for the same UK prices?

That won’t be the case for everyone. I have the disposable income, I just refuse to pay silly moneys for it. The card I have does the job anyway. My peen is fine, so I don’t need e-peen either to compensate. Happy to skip a gen :D

I never would say it was the case for everyone, but it is larger proportion than it has been in the past.

Gibbo has already given us an idea on what the 7900xt and 7900xtx AIB reference and custom ones will cost:

Am sure you’ve seen same stream as me? AMD literally have told me nothing so that stream is all we know.

From my experience in the industry expect following:

7900 XT reference at $899 with AIB reference cards circa £949-999 and custom ones a few quid more.

7900 XTX reference at $999 with AIB reference around £1049-£1099 and custome cards around £1199-1299.

In short it is clear the 6000 series is going to run alongside the new gen for a while especially as 6000 series has been reduced in price too:

6600 @ £229
6650 XT @ £299
6700 @ £329
6700 XT @ £399
6750 XT @ £449
6800 @ £549
6800 XT @ £629
6900 XT @ £689
6950 XT @ £799

The above is target prices that should be achievable with a pound of circa 1.15 for Black Friday deals so keep your eyes open for deals hitting around those prices.

We have 6900 XT for £649 which can be seen via the deals forum above as it’s exclusive to loyal forum members. Makes the 6800XT void as the 6900 XT is a very fast that now out performs 3080Ti in some games.

How many reference models will be available at release for £1050-£1100 ? Very little probably like last time leaving most to go for the aib version which are from £1200 to £1300 as can be seen by gibbos post above. It doesn't bother me if thing is £10 or £10000 as I already have the card I want and am happy with it . As I put would be nice to see them for £1000 , I doubt it buy we shall see in a few weeks.

That doesn't change the fact that there WILL be versions for £1050.

Each generation should make a card faster than its previous and the prices should remain relatively stable or follow global increases.

Making a card that's faster but then doubling the cost is ridiculous.
The cost per fps is worse, we had two years off madness to endure and maybe now two more years.

Nvidia can't shift MSRP 4080s, what chance has AMD of shifting £1000 cards in this financial climate.
They probably have a better shot if performance can get close to a 4090.

The 4080 is really a no ones card, people spending over 1300 quid expect top performance while everyone else just wants value for money. The 4080 delivers neither of these.

As said before, anyone who is spending 1200+ will not mind spending another couple hundred especially when the performance gap is substantial, I would definetly stoop up the extra for a 4090 over 4080. It really isn't surprising to see why nvidia have done what they have done, unless you were a workload user or/and had a very specific need for lots of vram, 3090/ti made literally zero sense over a 3080.

This is where amd also took a leaf out of nvidias book with their performance and pricing gap between the 7900xt and 7900xtx but again, not taking the **** to the same level.....

Nvidia has the market share and mindshare, if they are not shifting cards AMD has no chance at a grand regardless of performance. And the 4080 can be had for £1269 which is nearly £500 cheaper than 4090, they aint selling. After initial rush AMD cards will to be gathering dust on shelves.

on launch of the 3080 FE on Nvidia website shop was £649 & now £1269 for 4080 FE or
Partner card upto £1600.
Yeah Nvidia are shameless with their greed. They will have to take a hit one way or another as they won't **** volume at those high prices and will turn PC gamers towards the consoles which will still be a win for AMD.
