OcUK RX5700 and RX5700XT review thread

Btw has anyone made a close observation on Gamers Nexus 0.1% an 1% Low FPS?
On some games like F1 2018 the difference between 5700XT and 2070S is almost 30FPS in favour to 5700XT!!!!!!
Even heavily overclocked 2070S is 20FPS behind on the low end, let alone the 1080Ti.

Its been mentioned earlier, but I'd like to see undervolted results seeing as all amd cards so far released seem to have reacted very well in performance when this is done

Yeah unfortunately another round of reviews with raising voltages and power limits -_-
Some like Guru3d said that "we do not like Wattman" so using MSI AB (which admits doesn't support properly Navi yet) and cracks up the power and heat.
Others are not further behind, as they are not bothered with Wattman either.

Guru3D also V64 review was a joke also. He raised the floor voltage to 1250mv. So the card was trying to push 1250mv even on low speeds resulting to overheating and heavy throttling.

As soon as I have my Anniversary edition later this week (hopefully), going to go through series of tests and settings and I will post detailed results :)
Shame I am not a reviewer getting that free gear to test, and return afterwards. I would do much better job that most, even on Nvidia GPUs. Which all of them are on "move the sliders" in MSI AB, and not fine tune the cards using the curves. (which resulted pulling 2190 from my GTX1080 Armor, and similar high clocks on the 1080Ti).

I’ve only seen one person undervolt
But it was I think a mild undervolt

5700xt they changed the voltage from 1.15v to 1.10 (I think it’s max voltage).
They didn’t overclock after this.
Temperature dropped 10c and performance increased by 2%

So is it right that AMD are bios locking the 5700s overclocking capability to stop people going for a 5700 over a 5700XT?

Given that the 5700 = Vega 56 + 15% and Vega 56 undervolted and OC'ed = 15% bump. That essentially means 5700 = Vega 56

I'm irritated I've waited for Navi and the £250 Vega 56 and game deals have expired.

It makes you wonder if these reviewers even have any desire to try undervolting (and is there any other reason them not to try it?). You'd have thought they already know how well these cards react to undervolting, so it might be worth them giving it a go and see if theres any improvement in temps, noise and performance

got a link for this? 10c drop in temps are a lot to be sure.

most tech press shouldnt be having the words tech or press in their description. I keep seeing **** poor vega 64 reviews(and yes vega does have its faults to be sure) and i'm sitting here with my nitro+ 64 and wondering how on earth are they getting so low results, cause they are miles below my own mediocre scores and i don't even overclock the core.

Agreed

It is probably to avoid people frying their cards, when yields are poor and chip quality is patchy they will run chips are higher voltages across the board in order to ensure more chips work at their rated speeds.

Some chips will undervolt for sure if they are higher quality but not all of them.

There was an article the past week from Samsung which showed that the degradation voltage for these chips starts inside the 1.25v-1.35v range which tells us that AMD are already running close enough to this range as it is.

These chips need a stepping or two before they become the finished article.

Y,know, I'm really tempted to just get hold of an 5700XT and try it out undervolted just for the hell of it!
I'm more interested to know of the existing 3rd party aftermarket graphic cooler like the Icy Vision rev.2 and/or the Corsair HG10 A1 that was compatible with the 290/290x would be compatible with Navi cards (screw holes alignment etc).

I got the Icy Vision rev.2 cooler, and also the Corsair HG10 A1 with a H105 AIO still attached on my 290x that's not in use, would be interesting see how the 5700XT REALLY perform when performance is not limited by the temp.

I posted last October my results with the reference V64 got second hand.(with the reference blower)
Just mild undervolting, and was getting 30% higher GPU scores compared to reviewers who tried to OC and failed.

And here is my watercooled OC result.

On the watercooled review posted above, the clocks are hovering constantly on 2100 range, with just +50% PL. No undervolting etc.
Thats a hefty difference from the 1755 game clock!!!! Roughly +20%
