OcUK Ryzen 9 3950X review thread

Maybe they'll answer the question on the 9th attempt?

Why are you so annoyed about a possible delay to the 3950X, when you are happy to entertain a 10980XE, which is the same as a 7980XE, and a 9980XE, and a 7980XE could have been bought in 2017? You could have also bought a TR 1950X or 2950X, again from 2017.

None of those CPU's are consumer desktop, so I fail to see what option you have from Intel unless you are going HEDT, in which case we are back to the question above.

Going around in circles much?

Now you look really silly! Who said anything about downloading or unpacking? Being a fan-boy is silly enough, but making stuff up? Man, that's plain daft!

The 3950X isn't here, and won't be here. The 3950X is vapourware. AMD is diverting chiplets to EYPIC. Whilst AMD is silent on 3950X availability, there is no reason to suggest they won't do the same in 2020 when the 4950X is announced next June, and is launched in July, and launched again next September and launched again next November, just like the 3950X has been!

i must admit from reading your posts im not to sure what you want from a cpu or your new system.

yes the 3950x is looking like its more of a paper launch and going to be rare and overpriced due to it. unfortantly this is nothing new in the cpu world. I was goning to buy the 9900k at launch last year but by the time i got around to it it was out of stock and if it was in stock it was such a high price i decided against it. was i disaopinted? Yes i was but i was not going to buy a cpu at a inflated price.

then i decided to wait and i ordered the 3900x on release day as i felt the the price cores was a good price and i could get one and boy am i gad i did:)

but you say intel will give you 18 cores on there hedt system great if that fits your needs then by all means send your money to intel or would a 24 core threadripper for a similar price be better both are hedt system both with much more pci lanes quad channel ram and more cores. both option are open to you.

but you also have have the 9900ks in stock at ocuk at current time of posting £599.99 but Gibbo has said in toher threads they ahve some more stock in and price could change. Or how about my current cpu the 3900x now currently £519,99 whilst more then i paid still currenetly cheaper thent he 9900ks though with more core and threads.

i think its a shame you cannot buy your 3950x cpu you wanted but there are otehr options open to you from both amd and intel on mainstream platform or Hedt platform with verious price ranges.

Are you suggesting the 9900k was out of stock for almost a year? That's what the 3950X will be out of stock for. Your ramblings seem confused!

the 9900k was limited stock for a good few months 4 months i belive was limited stock on places like oc and others. but 9900k held there value once they was in stock and allways sold at a inflated price. so not out of stock for 1 year but really low stock for 4 moths and held there value for many months after.

which is why i wated for a 3900x over a 9900k. the rest of the post was your options you have intel or amd and i said it was your choice!

ROTFLMFAO!

Look, I couldn't be happier:

;- )))

You know, sometimes when someone tells you you're wrong, that's not them being in a rage its just you being unable to accept you're wrong! Its called; "denial", and its the emotional state you're experiencing right about now!

denial that you are in a rage?..... er..... nope.

The 3950X cant be vapourware as just about every review site has had one, to review.

the official definition of hardware vaporware is hardware that has launched or advertised but is unavailable for consumers to purchase. Reviewers didn't purchase anything they got sent what little stock AMD had on hand to get free clicks

Fine, were just days away from release... Point to one web site anywhere in the world, that's on AMDs list of distributors, where you can pre-order...

Just one?

I can point to two but due to forum rules can't link them.

anyone taking orders is in breach of AMDs NDA or are not an AMD partner so are not NDA bound but at same time getting zero official stock.

I could list them for pre order on my personal eBay now for £1500 so could you does not mean there is any to sell.

Its
Not vapor ware but it’s an extremely limited CPU that won’t improve stock wise until early 2020, look at 3900X not exactly being filling shelf’s since launch many places still without stock and nowhere with stock is at MSRP. Because demand outweighs supply and for us and no doubt many competitors to keep stock have had to pay premiums from brokers.

Would some of the people who are feeling 'disappointed' that the 3950X does appear to be a paper launch be less so if TR3 started at 16C at a civil price?
Well a few anyway, although the apparently high pricing of the next gen TR boards might dampen even that limited relief.

The thing I wonder is why they let this escalate.
They seemingly knew they were going to struggle to have stock ages ago as the release was put back so long.
At that point if they'd announced it as a $1K limited edition model, people could have just gone with the 3900X and not felt aggrieved.

But the 3950x is by definition a 3000 series, so your logic is absent!

sorry but wtf my logic is absent for one im not a Vulcan who cares about logic:) if none of the exsisting 3000 series be pre-ordered why would one expect the 3950x to have a pre-order!

For years people complained AMD didn't have enough performance.
Now they have so much performance that people can't buy their CPU's so they complain again.

It's a never ending circle.

People want 5ghz 16 core for $250 and they want it now, not tomorrow, now!

Oh, there’s an ‘Official’ definition. Oh please link so I can inform myself. As the definitions I googled said that it’s wares that never materialised / produced. We’ll see in a few days whether they’ll never be up for purchase I guess.

I think people just want to be able to buy a CPU around launch day near the RRP which is not so much to ask.
This appears to be a paper launch which is the actual issue which has nothing to do with the performance level.
It appears to be bad management by AMD which is more of an inconvenience than anything.
But at least the chips are worth waiting for and as there is zero competition at the RRP, wait we must.

its not the first or the last time a product will be a paper launch every company does it sometime or another:)
