OcUK Ryzen 9 3950X review thread

That's an interesting distinction… You are, unless you want to suggest otherwise one of the UKs premium suppliers of tech, and one of only 5 UK retailers to be large enough to be listed on AMDs website. The UK is one of the worlds largest IT markets.

You say you have only 18 3950X CPUs to sell, and the vast majority of those you obtained through 3rd party 'brokers' because AMDs supply is almost non-existent. AMD have therefore supplied more stock of the 3950X to UK reviewers, than to your entire e-tail outfit. If you can't get stock, are you really suggesting that this is a retail part?

The national lottery has 30 millionaire scratch cards in existence, and you're literally giving odds that I'm almost twice as likely to get one of those than I am a 3950X from you! Are you sure you want to stand-by your assertion this is a retail part, because you'll have to retract your previous statements if you do!

I've heard some mixed messages in my time, but your post takes the biscuit!

Is a Ford GT vapor ware then?

Surely vapor ware is a product that does not exist and can’t be purchased by public?

3950X exist, so does Ford GT they are real and public can buy them and some will get them.

it’s limiter numbers and sold to select repeat customers as the case with Ford GT.

Anyone can buy a 3950X and will eventually get it, that makes it very real they just might be waiting a while.

Was 3900X vapor ware? At launch it was small numbers and was out of stock everywhere hours after launch and stock took weeks to come again and remained tight but its improved over the months and continues to get better.

3950X will be same but worse but as with 3900X the stock will eventually come.

It’s a real product that people can buy and they shall receive. :)

*le sigh* - Had to settle for peasant-tier 12-core after waiting so long. Can't be hanging around months more. Sad, because I can actually use all those fast cores.
Pity OCUK didn't come out with that 3900x price a day earlier - you'd have had an extra sale & I'd have had an extra tenner in my pocket.
But this CPU should be a nice upgrade & I'll see what availability for the 16-core 4000-series part looks like next year.

Open up a return on it. EU law still applies in the UK, and you have a right to return and re-order at the lower price. Chances are though, if you just ring up and point that out, they will just refund you the £10 rather than going through the return process...

Uk have there own law for it eu doesn’t enter into it. Which is good since we’re only kinda In the eu these days

but the advice is kinda right though u can go to the retailer and say u found it cheaper somewhere else and most retailers will price match as good will token. I’ve even seen gibbo doing on these forums for people :)

Now you look really silly! Who said anything about downloading or unpacking? Being a fan-boy is silly enough, but making stuff up? Man, that's plain daft!

Yeah there are many people new to PCs like you who don't understand how PCs work. When you're used to a console, a guess you've no idea what a RAM disk can do...

What a strange, solicitous and trolling response. Your join time may be a couple of years ago but your post count and content suggests you're only just allowed to stay up past 7pm after school and have time to use the Internet.

AMD fanboy? Check my sig and try again. If you're going to attempt (poorly) to troll at least use a brain cell to do so in a less blithely unsuccessful manner. New to PCs? Haha I was writing *nix code before you were born (judging from the content of your posts). You're the one who, for some strange reason, brought video encoding and core counts into a discussion about PCIe bus speeds, and despite your voluminous ****posting you still didn't answer why that was relevant, especially when you're so comically dismissive of other usecases for that technology.

Good luck holding a couple of hours of RED 8k footage in your 32GB RAM disk btw - it'd hold about 2 minutes worth. But I suppose when you're young you can't afford proper amounts of memory. I have 32GB in my desktop toy just to play stuff on YouTube and post on here, let alone my encoding and server rigs. You said you had to be in bed hours ago but you were still here posting nonsense. Given your apparent lack of maturity, knowledge and the young language of your posts (I'm being generous in assuming youth as opposed to pure unintelligence), you won't last long on here. I'm out, but have fun until the ban hammer falls.

Okay, so you're a troll or just drunk? EU law applies to all UK purchases from all UK retailers. Or would you like to supply a link to the appropriate UK governmental website that disapplies EU law?

No, of course you can't! Idiot!

If you think that the number of posts equates to knowledge, then ROTFLMFAO! You live your life by validating it to a number of random posts on the net. LMFAO!

You don't know one end of H.264 from H.265 -You're an idiot and a troll and an AMD fan-boy and with your knowledge of tech, I'm surprised you've managed to stay at just a few thousand posts, surely you should be asking more questions than that?

Also, bans? You post on any account with real identity, oh wait...

SROTFLMFAO!

As I said, a young possibly unintelligent troll. You've been here long enough to know that namecalling is a bannable offence. Less acronyms and exclaimation marks would back up your assertion of superior intelligence. As for EU vs UK law, the EU pass regulations which member states must pass into their own laws. As such the other poster is quite correct. Perhaps one day you'll grow up and be able to contribute meaningfully. Good night, from an "AMD fan boy" with an Intel PC. :o

You've linked to repealed law. The correct UK (EU law) is contained in:

EU Directive 2011/83/EU

https://www.unlockthelaw.co.uk/distance-selling-regulations.html

You need to stop posting your stupid brexit bigoted clap-trap!

taken from the very first paragraph on the artical i linked and i will poost it here

From 13 June 2014, the Consumer Contracts Regulations - which implement the European Consumer Rights Directive into UK law - apply to all purchases you make at a distance, for example online or over the phone.

even made the the bit about uk law easier for you to read. nothing about brexit crap just stating eu law Do no govern the uk our own laws do

According to OCUK EU law applies to all their sales:

"18. Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)
The EU ODR platform facilitates the online resolution of contractual disputes between EU consumers and traders over purchases made online, enabling the settlement of disputes out of court in a simple, fast and low-cost way"

So, I can either believe you, some random crank, or one of the UKs largest web sites?

But you, being a Brexit crank, say different? LOL!

you totally skipped over all the other points and went strieght to eu odr which was set up to help all eu members have a dispute system out of the court. EU ODR platform is a out of court system not a law!

here is a copy of the right to cancel at overclockers and look at point 1 the exact same uk law i linked in my artical. so dont belive me belive overclcokers. :)

The online disputes regulations are to cover sales between different EU countries, if you think www.which.co.uk are some random cranks that just shows how inteligent you are.

Why do people get so worked up about hardware, it’s just a piece of silicon waiting a while is not going to kill you. Sucks for people who have bought parts waiting on it but should have just got cheap R5 1600 if they were expecting a couple month wait even at the initial launch.

Peasant-tier...but you needed to save a tenner? The 3950X isn't meant to be released until the 25th is it?

Would I notice any difference in games going from an 8086k?

I'm tempted to get one and run a large nested VMware lab on my PC. So I'd need a motherboard that can accept 128GB of RAM as well and preferably 10 Gbit networking.

I would say it depends on what resolution and refresh rate you play at, and what type of games too. I should imagine for the most part there would be little to no difference if you are going 1440p or above, or using anything less than an RTX 2080 Ti.

Mainly FPS and I game at 3440x1440. I have a 20180 Ti.

I'd say you'll lose some top end frames if you are still OC'ing the CPU towards 5GHz+, but the lows at 1% should be less noticable, and if are you are running 144Hz VRR, then dropping from 140 to 128 FPS isn't going to kill you, but the extra 10c/20t will be awesome for everything else. :)
