Hello Dazboot You have a good CPU and your board is fine too.

Here are a couple of tips to help you break your 7sec target.

Open Super PI
Run 16 twice
Run 1 Mil once
Open Task Manager
Set affinity to CPU 04
Set Priority to High or real time if you have a stable overclock.
Make sure that all the stuff running in the background like AV or downloads are closed.
Close all the stuff that you do not need in task manager.

I have 12 services in total including explorer running when I bench

Have fun

OH Thanks for that looks like im going to give it another go in a bit ;)

Darn one thing I forgot.

Set affinity for all other process or services in task manager to 01 or 02.

The reason we do not use 01 or 02 for the benchmark is simple. Most of the other back ground services or processes will use the first core. CPU 00 and since it is HT that includes 00 and 01.

Just thought you would like to know the reason behind it all. ;)

What chiller are you buying?

5Ghz @ 1.345v - that's an incredible CPU you have there. I'm onthe same vcore @ 4.4 :)

Out of interest, could you share your other o/c settings?

The chiller am buying is a Waterchiller Hailea Ultra Titan 1500 looking to get water down to 4c!

Thanks Yoga my setting r just basic
1.345Vcore
1.65vDimm
All the other set auto!

bro306,
What voltages for prime95 stability at 5ghz please?
Also, is the Maximus iv allowing the lower voltages or is it down to your cpu /cooling setup?

Cheers

Have not tryed fully stable with my Maximus yet but on old setup 1.37vcore is stable at 5Ghz 12Hours+! Reason have not tryed on maximus is because am still waiting for new updates chiller, more mem,new psu and gpu!

Would you do me a favour please, when you get the OEM CPU could you post the batch and wafer number.

Sure.
I know Ocuk got one batch delivered on the 4th Feb and another on the 25th Jan... but I have no idea what the batch will be.

I was ordering one to make a new Media centre / NAS box (Replace my Atom 330 which just winds me up it's so slow)... so I paid a little more for another 2600K even though it will ultimately be going in an Asus P8H67 Pro to use the graphics and therefore not be overclocked.... although I will try and under volt it to keep it as cool as possible.

Wish I could get hold of someone there who would be willing to let me know batch numbers. I am looking for another 12 CPU's to bin. :)

I know several people in the shop quite well... been dealing with them for years... but I can't persuade them to identify the batches :( This is understandable really when you think of how many they have and that they are all boxed / stored in the warehouse. The only way they are likely to see the benefit is if there were one or two golden batches that were identifiable that they could sell at a premium (well that's the way I would think). But, correct me if I'm wrong, there is not really an identifiable golden batch... There seem to be some good ones from all sorts of different batches.

I expect we are seeing the best chips from the centre of a silicone wafer, so assuming each batch = 1 or more wafers then there might be a couple of golden ones per batch!
