*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Yup and no. Alyx I have to run at 80hz in virtual desktop to make it smooth. 80hz, 80mbs bitbrate and high graphic settings in VD app. Wired I can max it out at 1.7.

interestingly st wars squadrons really works the rig and I set it at 80hz @ 1.6 but sometimes end up with frame rate dips into the high 50’s.

Ah ok. I wrongly interpreted your posts to mean you were getting full fps at 1.7x on the slider in everything with ease.

I too have found it highly game dependent. Its a lot of messing about with settings so in VD I tend to leave it on medium, which works great.

My frustration is coming from Elite Dangerous where having the slider up looks sooooo good, but on 1.7x it barely breaks 20 fps.

It is VERY game dependant example msfs2020 is unplayable for me. Then something like Alyx runs smooth as butter. I have a theory that any game with teleport movement on instead of free locomotion gets far far better frame rates. Here are some normal non -VR PC games that I run at ultra settings in 4K:

COD Cold War everything ultra apart from Ray tracing which is set to high with DLSS balanced 79fps

Warzone everything inc ray tracing shadows but no DLSS 67fps.

doom eternal nightmare settings 64fps

microsoft fs2020 mixture of high ultra and medium at 90% render res. 44fps

Most of my VR games run better FPS wise than many of my stand alone pc games which I can only attribute to VR games from the ground up being much better optimised. The exception being Star Wars squadrons which seems a half way house with VR a bit “tacked on”. I am a bit of a perfectionist and will fiddle with settings for hours before I put serious hours into a game.

another thing to note is steam VR on the whole appears to be more resource heavy than the Occ store counterparts. This could be due to the Steam VR App being a bit outdated now.

That's on a Vive, rendering ~9 million pixels. Not a Quest 2 rendering 14.8m pixels :p[/QUOTE

Was just to give a general idea on performance ie not in the 40’s. That video shows a locked 80 which is the vibes maximum frame rate. Iv tried capturing on my quest but I can’t capture the overlay as well as the cast.

The vive max refresh rate is 90, same as the quest 2 max, the reverb G2 and the rift CV1. I think you are getting confused with the rift S which AFAIK is the only 80hz hmd (it's possible one of the pimax ones are too)

Ahhh

Afternoon folks, I've been browsing this forum for a while - particularly this thread picking up tips etc.

Any way, quick heads up for anyone interested, the VR Cover store (Europe) now has stock back in of the facial interface and also is now stocking the controller grips.

They are doing controller grips? Nice!! I think I will order some. Are they any good?

Do I have to have Facebook for this? It's not something I have had or need but would like a quest 2. Sold my rift s but want vr back for racing sims only, worth it?

Folks, can I just come back to the discussions youve ben having about 1.7x...

In the device setup I only get up to 1.5x... which is 5408 x 2736

Any reason for the difference?
