*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

I watched one of the Micro Monster films, and it was moving while I was sat, and I started to feel tiny bits of nausea, but disappeared once the screen stayed still. Been running around rec room and whilst I've got a bit confused on moving around, I've not felt ill which is good.

Rec room with full motion makes me feel awful.

So getting my VR legs a bit in rec room, moving with the trigger rather than teleporting. Played some paintball. My god there's a lot of kids, all trying to be edgy without actually swearing. Met another adult in the general play room. I suspect there may have been a few adults in the paintball too, just not bothering to talk, and I have to say I can't blame them. I wouldn't say I've been put off it though, it's harmless stuff that I'm just finding funny. Could see a group being fun though.

I recommend the Rec Room Quests, they're actually pretty challenging and being wireless helps as you can freely turn around and crouch behind cover.

After having a bit more time to play around with my new Quest 2, here are my impressions.

Positives.

Sound: Way better than the Rift S and Original Quest.
Controllers: Almost as good as the Civ1 controllers, really like them.
Screen and Picture Quality: So good, black levels better than the Rift S, Huge reduction in SDE, Very little God rays. Just amazing visuals!!
Build Quality: really good.

And the one big negative.

Comfort: Terrible. Almost as bad as the Quest. Will be buying the Elite Strap with battery as soon as possible. Also a VR cover, the foam on the Quest 2 isn't great.

Now I had some issues with some games, but I think that might be because I turned on 90Hz mode. Robo Recall unplugged and Eleven Table Tennis both had stutters.

Then I tried some Virtual desktop. Again I played the PCVR version Eleven Table Tennis and also Guns and Stories Bullet Proof. Eleven Table Tennis didn't play so good. But Guns and Stories was perfect.

After that, I tried some Media. Downloaded the Amazon Prime VR app and tried it out. There was really only one movie that I could use to test it and that was Ready Player One :p It was pretty good actually. I only tried the HD version, I wonder would the 4K version be better?

And finally I tried the Oculus TV app and watched an Episode of Micro Monsters with David Attenborough. It was the Spider one , The Deadly Lullaby. It was brilliant. Shame the episodes are so short. I hope there is more content out there of this quality. Fantastic.

Just another tip I found if you are seeing the screen edge on your oculus quest 2 at your ipd setting. you can fit you glasses spacer in and this sets your eyes back and you will not see the glare on the edges

Definitely getting my VR legs now. Just played the daily quest game (don't think I completed it though). Played with another adult, and a friendly kid who was happy to help out. Kid was insane, running 30ft in front of the rest of us shooting a bow a million times a second taking out everything. Good fun and a nice experience. Definitely need to keep practicing to actually git gud though.

Finally up and running, some questions.

There is a strange pattern in the middle of the lenses when you look at them closely, is that supposed to be there?
Its a little blurry with my glasses on(glasses spacer in), would prescription inserts be better?

Had a go on the Creed demo, great fun. :D

Creed is surprisingly engaging. But hard to imagine how the full game adds much.... does it add much?

Seems to be a gap in the market for a more stylised fist fighting game.

Very very small dots? Like a screen door effect? That's the pixels of the screen. Much less noticeable on this than the Rift.

Does the Quest store ever see sales? There are a lot of games I'd like to get, but even at £10-£20 a pop, the cost is fair adding up :p

Or can codes be bought elsewhere at a discount?

Just picked mine up 'click & collect' after ordering 5 mins ago. Shame the 30 series GPU arnt so easy to get hold of! Enjoyed Quest 1 so let's see how #2 shapes up!
