x570 tommahawk here, unofficial cable
Any suggestions to reduce the delay over oculus link on RX580? its set to 90hz and usb bandwitdh is like 2.3gb
Yeah, get rid of the RX 580!!
Ah, sorry!! But, it's kinda true. The encoder on the Rx 580 is really slow and bad. To speed it up you would have to reduce it to 72Hz and lower the render resolution.
since all the current cards are out ofd stock, would something like a 1060 be alright regarding its encoder? do need loads of performance for the games i play. beat saber social apps etc
The 1060 would be better than the 580. It's better both ways, faster encoder and better for VR.
If you could find a 1660 super not stupidly overpriced it would be better as it has an even faster encoder.
Late to the party but just ordered a quest 2.
I had a rift CV1 4 years ago. WIll my games still work? As I understand it some can stream over and some might have a quest version?
this might be why some of you are having problems with link :

All your rift games should work if you use a USB cable connected to your computer for link mode, or you use side-loaded virtual desktop to play wirelessly (depends on how good your Wifi is).

Cheers dude. WiFi should be good, I have 4 Unifi AC AP's in the house and away form the computer the room I'd use has an AC Pro in there.
Is there a janet and john guide somewhere how to side load VD?
I use an AC pro, I've licked everything else off the 5hz and it is perfect.
All you do is but the quest version of Vs and then sideload the vd version from sidequest.
Just make sure you pick the quest version in the oculus store
