Tried the link cable and set pixel density in debug tool to 1.4 but not seeing a big difference in visual quality, it does look slightly sharper but not a hugh difference even setting it to 2.0. Any ideas what else to try?

Diminishing returns. The resolution at setting 1 is still going to be high. Set it to 0.3 and see what happens, and then increment it from there and you'll see how the quality improves and then becomes not so noticeable.

PS i haven't tried this myself on the Q2 yet, this was based on some testing I did on Q1.

Yeah. I have a 2080ti. That game has cost me a lot in upgrades. I started with a 290x and went through a 1070 gtx and now the 2080 ti. Finally it runs in vr exactly how I wanted it.

Good news then - if it’s running really nicely on the 2080Ti then it should also run very well on the 3070/AMD equivalent, which will be a comparatively accessible price point for many.

Oh yeah from reports that card is as fast if not faster than the 2080 ti.

Did you happen to try project cars 2 when you was on your 1070?
I'm currently on a 1070 and it looks like a playstation 1 game in VR, looks great on 1440p monitor,
Hoping when my 3080 comes it will look good

Did you get the encode resolution width to 3664?

Yes did that. It looks similar to when you use fxaa has that blurry effect like its lacking a sharpening filter.

Oculus are promising improvements in the Link cable connection, they are just having a bug with the Guardian boundary at the minute.

You could try these settings.

Pixel Width 1.2
Encode Resolution 2784.

But, I am not sure anything will make that much of difference until Oculus update the link to Quest 2 specifications.

Now you've had your Quests for a few days has anyone noticed issues with the controllers. The fit of the cover for the battery compartment is pretty bad on both my controllers. The left one is noticeably worse than the right. On the left I can feel the compartment cover literally moving in my hand when I move position to press the trigger buttons on it. The right controller isn't as bad but it does frequently creak in my hand when I grip the triggers. It's not really what you expect from a device in 2020 where the fit of injection moulded plastic is generally pretty good.

It's annoying as I never had any issues with the controllers on my original Quest. People moaned about the magnetic covers on them but I thought they were quite effective. Certainly they're way better than the poorly fitting cover on my Quest 2 controllers!

I'm going to return mine as I'm unhappy with it but I'm wondering if they're all like that or I've just been unlucky? Not sure whether the return or replace? Has anyone else noticed this being a problem for them?

Just got VD working also. Sharpness in Steam VR home environment is night and day compared to Quest 1. Absolutely awesome. Went into a Snellen environment and it was way better than before but still couldn't see the 20/20 vision line unfortunately. Then VD streamer crashed on me. I am going to seriously need a new GPU to drive this resolution.
Whats snellen environment, doesn't come up on a search within quest 2 ?

So I've just realised, that with the rugby on Amazon Prime, I can basically watch it on the equivalent of a cinema screen with my quest 2 :D.

I'm seeing lots of developer options etc, to improve resolution etc, would any of this help with amazon prime? Upping the hz might I guess, with motion?
