Walkabout is excellent, but I wouldn't use a 30% discount on it when it's quite cheap to start.

Yep, better spending on one of the more expensive titles where you can max your discount. There's plenty of them, especially on PC.
Unfortuantely my PC isn't really up to running VR titles so gonna have to stick with something on Quest. Appreciate that it probably makes sense to buy a more expensive title give the % discount.
I was erring towards Warplanes as I like the idea of having a combat flight sim I can play on the Quest in VR.
Only played Walkabout out of those and it's fantastic! Only played with my partner locally though so not sure what it would be like single playerI have a 30% discount I was planning on using before it expires. Trying to decide which of these to get :-
Warplanes
Walkabout mini golf
Sniper elite
Any recommendations?
Have been using my rift CV1 recently since it's a lower res headset and does fine with my GTX 970, just didn't find the need to use the quest 2 until I finish my pc, which I planned to do around the time I bought the headset but of course GPU prices were only skyrocketing then. I also had exams at around that time so didn't really game much for a couple months. Why wait??? It's a standalone device with load of fun free stuff?
Looking forward to trying that out, especially the new campaign!Pistol Whip has got a decent update (unsure about the new menu system though), with new maps including a wild west series .
Did anyone here ever try a quest 1 outdoors?
You can play outdoors - I've done it - but you can't do it in bright sunlight because as you have found, it drowns out the IR tracking LEDs on the controllers.
You need to play on an heavily overcast day, in shade, or at dusk when the sun is below the visible horizon.
As always, be ultra careful when playing outside never to let reflected or direct sunlight into the lenses even for an instant. Be super paranoid about that, as it only takes a second to irreperably burn the screens.
indeed... that was my experience as well.... infact the q1 i even found it ok in pretty bright sunlight - taking the precautions you warn about - but my Quest 2 will not do it at all..........
This is true but the bottom line was it worked incredibly well (With the Quest 1) and despite what oculus warned is perfectly fine IF you are careful. I was just wondering if anyone with a Q2 had had more luck than me.They have changed the way the controllers operate for Quest 2 to increase battery life. Possibly the LEDs are not as bright, or some other thing in the way they operate means that they're less tolerant of bright sunlight. But it's never really been recommended or reliable to use the Quest 1 or 2 in bright sunny conditions. In fact they warn you specifically not to use the device outside in the instructions.
Have you tried in pretty overcast conditions? People say it works best thenThis is true but the bottom line was it worked incredibly well (With the Q2) and despite what oculus warned is perfectly fine IF you are careful. I was just wondering if anyone with a Q2 had had more luck than me.
Am wondering if perhaps some high power batteries may help rather than my 1.2v recharables.
i thought so but i will be trying again this winter... btw there is a typo in my original message that you quoted.... i meant to say it worked incredibly well with the quest 1 instead i put Q2, thus nuking my entire point!. (but i think you got what i meant!)Have you tried in pretty overcast conditions? People say it works best then
Yeah got what you meant, it is certainly interesting with the differences between Q1 and Q2. Assume it's how they're tracked but maybe a small amount the change between black and white.i thought so but i will be trying again this winter... btw there is a typo in my original message that you quoted.... i meant to say it worked incredibly well with the quest 1 instead i put Q2, thus nuking my entire point!.
