*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Busy reading through various threads here and other sites to get an idea of what it can do. Just one concern so far is battery life. Seems like around 2 hours is expected which I think is adequate but how well does the battery age? Does the battery life decrease substantially after a few months of heavy usage and is it replaceable?

You can always add on an external battery. There are various different ways to do it.

Add on battery pack solves your concerns easily :).

My quest 2 was my first headset too, loving it.

Drop onto the hangout thread if you want to find some people to play with. We try and play every Monday evening but I'm sure people will be happy to have done more spontaneous games too.

Just bought a Quest 2 128GB. An impulse buy, not sure why... maybe because I'm so bored at home in my tiny apartment and it's not too expensive. Preorder should arrive on Monday/Tuesday.

I haven't done any gaming for years and I have never tried any sort of VR before so I'm actually getting quite excited :D. My main PC is an Intel NUC 8 (i5-8259U) so I will mostly use the Quest 2 standalone.

Congrats!!! You should love it! The Quest 2 is a great first headset and you got in after they changed the facial interface and increased the storage to 128gb so great timing!! What kind of games do you like? I'm sure you can get some good recamondations on here :)

Thanks for the kind replies!

I didn't know about the external battery so that's great. Seems like another strap is recommended anyway for comfort so I may get that after a while.

Will try a variety of games, movies, videos and other applications to see what I like. All the reviews and opinions I have read are very positive about the experience (well, except the Facebook integration :p) so I'm really looking forward to it.

Welcome to vr.

I believe the term is 'Whelk erm to the oasis'

Lol. The quest is not the best vr headset on the market but I think it is the most important.
It is the 1st device to bring "proper" high quality vr at impulse purchase price bracket with no need for extra hardware.
If the quest isn't enough to get vr into the mainstream then I don't think anything will.

Where did you preorder from? Didn't think preorder was available yet?

I moved to Japan a few years ago, but I'm still occasionally active on this forum. Here, it's available to preorder from Amazon or directly from Oculus.

It was originally due for release today but now delayed by 1 day so should arrive tomorrow. They charged my credit card today.

So I've pulled the trigger on the 128GB version, aside from the link cable what are the other must have accessories?

Link cable isn't necessarily a must have, definitely not the official one.

Facial interface and headstrap are popular. But try without at first. A power bank and a way to fix it to the back of whichever headstrap you'll use is a very helpful accessory.
