Surely it's better in the fact you can clamp it tighter so it doesn't move? The biggest issue I have at the minute, especially in beat sabre, is the headset will slide up and down a little...and as we all know, a little movement means the difference between a sharp picture and a fuzzy one.

My headset always feels far too loose on my head/face.

I do agree on the pricing though. £50 for a bit of plastic!

It is better yes, maybe 20% better. The original strap wasn't too bad once adjusted and tightened to my head. Is 20% better worth £50? I don't think it is really. There has been a lot of fuss from the reviewers on this strap, which to me having tried it seems rather exaggerated now.

If you were regularly swapping users then it would be more worth it I think for the ease of adjustment.

Im going to keep it, but like I said, feel its a bit pricey for fairly limited improvement.

Mmmmm, I think I might buy it and then send it back if it's not great. If I do send it back, the headset will also be going back as I can't put up with it sliding about. It's a bigger problem than the godrays which are also very annoying.

The PSVR was rock solid.

Beat Sabre is still brilliant, but the songs are crap, and to get decent ones means a convoluted mod which breaks multiplayer. Ugh. Maybe the novelty is wearing off and I'm starting to see it for what it really is.

I'll give it a few more days.

I guess if youre having a problem with the existing strap making the headset slide about then the improvement for you might be a lot more. I wasn't really having that issue with the existing strap.

Yeah, I've tried everything. It just feels really loose. I can literally move the headset up and down with my little finger.

Doesn't matter how I work the strap, it makes no difference to the tightness. The strap only seems to move the headset higher up, or lower down

The one on the rear of your head, moves when you fit it on, so you can't make it tighter.

My preference is having it so tight my skulls about to crack. That's just how I like it :D

Hmm, this is odd because I got mine tighter. Granted it wasn't ever massively tight.

I think the strap does make the headset move less for sure. Maybe I was just expecting too much for £50, I think at £25 I'd have probably considered it worth it. Paying premium prices here really on this strap.

Just been chatting to other people in Oculus Venues. The new avatar system is amazing. The facial animation and lip-sync, coupled with the hand movement and gestures really helps sell that you're in the same space and talking to real people. Facebook have some seriously good tech.

That's their ultimate play, I suppose. Social VR. Reckon it'll take off?

I think it will. Venues is only a small part of it. Horizons is their big play.

It's very surprising that a big social media company failed to have any decent social apps ready for the Quest 1 launch. They really dropped the ball, because the social features of the Oculus Go (Oculus Rooms) for example were great and for some reason they just dropped them, instead of building on them.

Finally they're making progress. The new avatars are very appealing (very pixar-like in style), though there are few customisations right now.

Is anyone able to play Steam VR or Oculus PC games at 90hz on Virtual Desktop?

I used Sidequest to set 90hz, and virtual desktop says it’s running at 90hz but any game I play is saying 72hz! In Steam VR settings the refresh rate is set at 72hz and it won’t let me change it, says it’s the only refresh rate available for my headset.

You have to turn the display on and off again in Quest 2 before the 90hz mode is activated.

Thanks for your reply, as I say, VD is reporting it is running at 90hz, it’s just the games that are not.

After you set it to 90hz in sidequest you have to tap the power button to turn off the screen (but not so long it powers off the headset) then tap it again to power it back on, then load up VD and then load up steam

there's 2 refresh rate numbers at the bottom in VD, they both need to say 90hz

if you've done all that and it still runs games at 72hz then I would say there's a bug (not uncommon - the latest VD says it fixed the issue where gsync causes the PC to be locked at 60hz but it still does it on mine)
ggodin is the developer on reddit, try dropping him a message

When I run a game and bring up the VD menu the left figure says 90hz, the right one says 72hz.

I’ll try rebooting headset & PC and then enable 90hz again tonight.

I guess at that point they were still acting like Oculus wasn't entirely Facebook.
