Ah, got a replacement unit and its got exactly the same visible bit in the middle of the lenses......so going to assume its supposed to have. :p

Prescription lenses in production, WIDMOVR say they are swamped with orders so taking longer than usual!
 
I tried the beta Oculus software that enables higher quality Link, and it's a big improvement. It's still a slightly washed out soft image, but there's far less video compression showing with an encode bitrate of 200Mbps. I could see me using this for some PC VR now, though the low FOV does get on my nerves.

A fully-modded Skyrim was the only game where I had significant performance issues, all the others ran fine. Hopefully they'll continue to improve it.

lol that's mad, I don't see anything in the middle of the lenses. Is this when you are wearing the headset or looking at the lenses when you are holding it?

Hold the unit and move them around when under a light source while looking at the centre of the lens. I can see like a small finger print sized reflection(or something) inside the lens around the centre. Its a bit like a really faint oil slick/smudge. I think I convinced myself I could see it when using them but not so sure now. :rolleyes:
 
Dammit i was hoping the new strap would solve an issue i have with pain around back of my head but no joy. It's more or less the same. Much quicker to adjust though.

I have two as oculus shipped in 3 days despite saying 3 weeks on the website so i ordered from elsewhere....

Thats the internal reflections in the lens reflecting your outside image back at you. The ridges in the fresnel lens do this. You'll probably make out things sort of to the side of you in the reflection.

Anyone had issues with theirs?
Hopefully it's just a small number of cases. Love my strap just hope they all aren't going to have this issue
 
Just refunded Alyx, real shame. It runs amazingly and the sense of presence was great; but I just don't have enough physical space available to play it.

The handtrackers are a bit clunky and unintuitive also, but that's not a show stopper.

I don’t need any space to play it, I stand in the same spot the whole time!

such a shame I'm loving it atm,
the dark area with the torch is mind-blowing!!!
