*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

That's a great use case :)

My wife and I are hooked on our first play. Ran down the battery playing Beat Saber within a couple of hours. After a charge, bought SkyBox VR and linked to my Emby server, and we've also been looking around a friend's potential house purchase in VR :o:p:D

Edit - think I've spent nearly £50 today so far on apps and games. Just played Pisto Whip - decent! Superhot next.

Superhot is good. Would highly recommend eleven table tennis. And try out rec room. It's free there's some annoying kids but also a load of nice folk.

In Oculus link, has anyone seen the recommended graphics settings improve when youve upgraded?

I upgraded my gpu and the recommended settings still say 72Hz and 1.0 on the slider. I would have expected these auto settings to improve quite a lot given my upgrade.

I was forced to do a factory reset but after all was done it would not connect to sidequest to patch virtual desktop which was a pain to say the least.

So if you find yourself in the same position after a factory reset then remember to enable developer mode in the phone app first!

Can you choose higher? I have mine at 90hz and 1.7 and it looks great. No idea what it had as recommended though.

Yup definitely need wired or at least a better WiFi connection that my main rig upstairs current has. However - VD and wireless link works pretty darn well.

My Q2 arrived yesterday and I must say it is fantastic. The controllers and tracking are brilliant and so easy to use. Only played a few games so far, but I am completely sold. Echo VR really makes me feel like I can fly and I feel those are really my arms in game! The Room is also great and I do get these sense I am in the locations within the game. Not even tried it with PCVR yet. Best £300 I have sent in a long time!

It's utterly immense isn't? Game changing! I think my wife is even more excited about it than I am (she hasn't stopped talking about it) - she was practically frothing from the set up screen :D.

All very easy to set up as well. Got SideQuest installed, Steam Link/VD, Emby (though that's stopped working again for some reason) and so on.

First "VR Incident" last night, never had a single thing happen during the 4 months of owning the original Quest, barely a week into the Quest 2 and I punch a bowl of stir fry out of my other halves hands which smashes all over the floor.

Needless to say she wasn't impressed, especially as she had informed me food was ready and she was coming into the room, we then just had a 5 second window where she thought I was stopping and I thought she was waiting.... but my left hand flew to the left.... bloody beat saber.

I'm having an issue with population one.

It'll run fine at 80 hz elected on VD streaming settings getting a 5 ms game render time in the overlay.

If change vd to 90 hz in vd settings the render time jumps to 15ms and i can't hit 90hz, 85 is where it sits, which is crazy as I'm not asking the gsme to render any bigger resolution or better graphics, and with 5ms game render time there is ample room to hit 90hz smoothly?

Yep thats the one I have and it shows as USB 3 for me but at only about 1.8 Gbps in Oculus link. I think was quite a common value to see, no one was getting much higher before. Is your pc saying its USB2?

this is the cable Oculus link to :

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MZIPYPY/
Anker cable

Right, well I'll give that Anker cable a go. If that doesn't work I'm giuving up until I upgrade my PC and I shall make do with Virtual Desktop for now.

Received this one today (https://www.amazon.co.uk/KIWI-design-Oculus-Transfer-Compatible/dp/B08BPDVBHF) and that doesn't work either.

I've been using USB Device Tree Viewer to inspect the devices connected to the USB ports and every cable I try connects as "High-Speed" (USB 2) whether it be on my PC or Laptop. USB 3 flash drives connect successfully as USB 3 on both however.
