Has anyone bought the Quest 2 facial interface pack for the wider interface and doesn't need the narrower one, and would be interested in going halves? I don't want to buy the full pack because I don't need the wide one so its a waste of money.

I've been asking the same thing :p unfortunately i also want to try the narrow fit.

Wish the likes of vr cover offered different fits.

Picking this up tomorrow, bit of an impulse buy, not tried VR properly before but looking forward to it. What are some must buy games and stuff that will blow my mind considering I'm fresh to this?

Looking at at getting beat sabre, superhot, and some kind of multiplayer game, maybe Population:one ?

since the update to V23 i had problems

so today i did a factory reset , seems better now
tracking was the worst i experienced in Beat Saber, missing notes when i didnt

When the VR cover set arrives I will give it a go with the kids, if its an ok fit for them then you can have the narrow fit one for postage costs.

Not likely to be this side of christmas though. :)

*edit, VR Cover has just arrived, sod it, trust me your address and will send it, should be fine will be mostly be using it anyway.

Picked this up today and it's blown my mind a bit. I need some games, can't decide between Population: One, Onward or Contractors, as I want some kind of PVP FPS. any advice?

Onward is similar to ARMA whilst contractors is more akin to COD (minus kill streaks and an the silly stuff they've added)

I love both, sure you'd have a great time on either

Went through this all today and followed instructions and YouTube videos. Did everything to save the data and Apk files in side quest and they did download to my computer I then managed to get them successfully back on the quest but in every game the save file was not present. Saw quite a few videos mentioning the same issue so not sure what the issue is there. If someone figures it out let me know. Factory reset did cure my tracking/guardian issues since the V23 update though.

Could someone please enlighten me on the hassle/none hassle required to get the Q2 to work with games from Steam and also, how much of a faff to break away from the Oculus store?

Is there general compatibility across the Oculus line up? Meaning, if it works with RIFT, will it work with Quest?

Thanks.

I've not done much, but had no real troubles getting steam VR to run over virtual desktop. Not a big pcvr user though, and very new to vr.

If it works with Rift, it works with Quest via Link. If you want a low hassle solution, just buy the official Link cable and hook your headset up to your PC. You still need the Oculus desktop software installed, but you can use Steam for all of your software.

If you want to save some money, buy an unofficial Link cable. But there seem to be reports of some of these cables not working as intended. So just be aware you may have to return them until you get one that works.

Virtual Desktop is another option, giving a wire-free experience. But it doesn't work with every Rift-compatible game. I believe there's a (short) list of unsupported titles on the Discord. It's also a teeny bit more hassle to set up. Ideally, you want your PC connected to your router via Ethernet. And you want to split out your 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks, keeping the 5GHz network for the Quest (and anything else that specifically needs the speed). You also want to ensure your 5GHz network is on a clear channel. You need to buy the VD app on the Quest store, you need SideQuest to sideload the patch that let's you play VR games wirelessly, and you need to enable developer mode on your Quest. None of this is difficult. But it's certainly more work than using the cable.

On the SideQuest front, if you want to avoid buying stuff from Oculus then this application is a must-have. It's an unofficial store for games and apps that run natively on Quest.

I'm a newbie to VR but it's very simple. Just install the desktop software, get a decent cable, plug it in and you're up and running no bother. All I've done is update the software and crank the resolution and supersampling sliders. No config needed at all. Played Alyx and I expect you to die so far - no issues.

You run the games once from steam and they appear in your Oculus library.
