*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

I'm about to take my first steps into the VR world having tried my friends Q1 ages ago and have always wanted one since.
I didn't want to drop £400 on the original Q1, but I can get the Q2 for £270 new, which I'm happy to spend (although after all the accessories it'll be close to £400! :o)
Also will be buying the GOMRVR Halo strap and a cheap £10 PU leather face cover to use whilst I wait for the VR Cover Facial Interface to be back in stock and then I can buy that with the controller grips.

I've had a look at games, and I'm going to have to limit myself on buying initially as there's so many that look good!
Are people buying on Steam and then using VD or just buying via the Quest store? As the games through Steam are cheaper when on sale, but then I guess the games aren't portable and it's still an extra step to do before playing.

I think initially I'll pick up the New Year's Pack (Gun Club, In Death: Unchained, Space Pirate Trainer), Beat Saber, possibly Vader Immortal Episode 1 and Superhot.
How often do games go on sale? If it's anywhere half as regular as Steam sales, I'll be happy to wait as and when they drop in price.

It's great, enjoy...I also have the GOMRVR en route :)

It is hard where to focus (games wise), like you said, a discounted bundle is a good start to get you going. I'd wait for sales on Beat Sabre as it's quite expensive (but it's up to you of course) - I can also recommend Eleven which is table tennis game/sim.

Be careful, on the store there's a table for each type or game (ie if it plays via PC or headset) - not all games are cross-buy, but there is a way to search for cross-buy titles...my advice, buy games that require minimal lag for the headset so you don't have the lag from the PC - also these games can be taken anywhere so a great reason to buy those. Eleven and Beat Sabre are good examples.

Don't know enough about sales - they don't seem great, just keep an eye on store, there's usually a daily deal...I did a similar thing to you, bought a few to get me going and now waiting for sales to pick up games that interest me. Oh, and Saints and sinners is apparently an awesome game.

Sales have been good the past few months, but that was down to BF, Cyber Monday, Christmas, and New Year. Could be a while until the next one.

On the games front, make sure to check the comfort rating before buying. As a new player, stick to "Comfortable" experiences for at least the first few weeks. These are the games which aren't expected to give you motion sickness. The games you mentioned are all fine if you stick to teleport movement and snap turning to begin with.

oh can you ?
cool !

i still need to click on multiplayer ?

been playing In Death: Unchained

just got to the first checkpoint, seems good so far :)

Been a while since I played but if I remember rightly you join a multiplayer lobby and float on up the terminals where you would usually joing a game and there should be an option to play against AI

...I think

I decided to just buy it yesterday and I can already tell I'll be playing it a lot. I took 10 tries to do a 100% cube cutting on $100 Bills hard. I was so pleased with myself when I succeeded though I have since found out that how you cut them affects the scoring so that's something to work on. I then added the faster modifier and sod me that was interesting, I can almost get 100% cubes but I screw up at the end.

I recommend synth riders and fit Vr.

I started a fitness regime since Christmas. I do a song on synth riders on normal to warm up. I then do 5 different 10 minute workouts on fit Vr (boxercise on moderate I've not tried dancing ones yet). Finally I finish with another random song on synth riders.

The boxercise alone tracks over 1000 calories burnt and as I follow OMAD (one meal a day) the weight should be flying off. I have followed OMAD since June and lost 2 stone with no exercise (and a 2 week all inclusive holiday and Christmas not sticking to plan!). Hopefully the quest workouts will help accelerate my loss.

That sounds good. I shall have to look into those 2. I assume you mean FitXR?

I was just doing ok till I put it on 360 then it blew my mind

Fit XR is the most constent VR calorie burner I've found. Long sessions really do get the heart rate up like standard cardio exercise.

The most exhausting VR game is Thrill of The Fight, but doesn't seem to be as good a calorie burner, according to my Vivoactive 3 smartwatch.

Is Fit XR good for fitness then you think?

Also folks, I remember some people who played Pokerstars VR with hands free enabled... but when trying it today, it didnt work for me, any ideas or what I need to do?

I really can't see 1000 calories being burnt. I've done massive walks and bike rides that ain't got to 1000calories

Folks, I would appreciate your advice...

My PC mobo has a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20Gbps Type C... which is supposedly faster than the front panel connector USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C

Yet when testing, I get 2.8Gbps with the Gen 2 and 1.9Gbps Gen 2x2. This doesnt make sense surely... ?

Doesnt make any sense though... the one at the back is faster supposedly!

Anyway like you said, use the front one... gives me more slack too!

Just had a go in Elite Dangerous, having to do the training, and I actually started to feel a little funny in tight turns. I guess this is a game you want to get your VR legs sorted out first?

Have to say it looks good, though needs some tweaking, but once I completed the training and got my licence, the game play options, solo etc, were greyed out and I couldn’t selected them.

I just saw there is a setting to change the refresh rate in the Oculus software up to 90Hz, although I selected this, it says "not using recommended settings, may affect performance..." even though I have a 10900 and 3080....
Also the rendering resolution can be increased it seems? Is this software rendering I assume?
