Oculus Rift

Had a bit of a scare today, put on the headset and I noticed something funny about the right headphone. Took it off to take a look and found that the right headphone had fallen off and was hanging by the speaker wire. Thought it was broken, but, it clicked back into place, just needed a lot more force than I expected.

This is still quite the rollercoaster for me, I keep playing DCS world for an hour or two and then feeling sick all day, I need some nicer games to play lol

lol I bought lone echo and played that for an hour or so and felt rough as hell so had to take a break and lay down lol, going back for more later ;)

If you want an Inateck adapter card, recommended by Oculus, I can send one to you. I bought one and have since replaced it with a Startech card so I have no need for it.

The Etron USB ports do not work.
That's very nice of you, I have since decided to hold off from buying a gift and save towards a new build, in view to playing games at 4k and getting the most of VR from future AAA VR game releases.

Once again thanks for your generous offer

Try Il2:Stalingrad, I am also sensitive to motion sickness and also have issues with DCS but none at all with IL2. Maybe due to its better optimisation, idk. Just remember to turn off Asynchronous Time stuff off with Ctrl+1 so that you're not capped to 45fps every time you dip below 89fps.

I've tried DCS, Warthunder (this thing runs like dream at constant 90fps but has crappy phyiscs, worse cockpits and effects compared to DCS and Il2) and ended up spending numerous hours in IL2 in VR mode.

I have il-2 1946 but not stalingrad, I tried 1946 but cannot see how to get Vr working, do I need stalingrad for VR to work?

Il2:1946 is old, you do need IL2:Stalingrad which is 1946's modern reincarnation with better graphics, DCS-like physics and VR of course. Stalingrad winter map is just gorgeous imo.

Oooo yeah hadn't realised it was that new, I'll buy it tomorrow and try, thanks :D

Get it on steam, you should be able to refund it if I've hyped it up beyond its merit :) For me its awesome though- all the touch games feel boring and shallow already, but Il2 and Assetto Corsa continue to carry the "VR is amazing" torch...

I won't need a refund, I played a lot of the first il-2 sturmovik game years ago, not sure how I ended up with 1946, must have been cheap in a steam sale, I'll defo buy it tomorrow :)

Yes it seems to be. I had an email from OCUK saying my pre order should be in stock my the end of the week.... Oh what to do.

Ok bought Alien isolation on cd keys and il-2 from amazon so it will come tomorrow, sucks that steam would have cost 4 times and twice as much for each :s
Steam is weird with its pricing sometimes, but anyways - enjoy! Two of my favourite games of all time. AlienIsolation is a bit slow and cliched in the first 40 minutes, but transforms into a bit of a masterpiece after that (basically after you meet mr Alien for the first time). May have a go at completing it again once VR issues are ironed out a bit, but IL2 will keep me busy until then and beyond haha

Had an email today too saying that they were hoping Rift Bundle would be back in on the third (hopefully). Killing me waiting as I bought the Optic bundle so no new PC until they come into stock....

So i went on the Vive today. Its the first time I've gone on VR and was pretty impressed. I really liked the controllers and tracking seemed to be good.

some really minor niggles
- the screen occasionally got blurry, im not sure why or if its game specific... its like the screen would lose focus or something.
- I found trying to read certain text in game quite hard, but again i think this is mostly game related. I do think a resolution bump would help. Some things like a ship i was looking at looked beautiful and ugly at the same time.
- the headstrap was not very good, when playing the escape room game where I had to bend not meant the thing would nearly fall off. I played on and off for an hour and the thing was uncomfortable.

In comparison, what is the Oculus like... Id like to jump in on VR and have a 980ti so could run one. I can't buy just yet as Ive just bought a switch, so hope the price stays relatively the same for a while as the current £399 is the right price for me.
How does ther resolution compare, the controllers, and the comfortability
