Oculus Rift

No, it's fantastic, but also beta. Bugs exist.

Just for the record, it's been great for me... took a little while to figure it all out and I haven't asked it to do much regarding oculus desktop (while its really useful for doing things without taking off the headset I personally find the resolution of the headset too low to use it for anything productive when I have a nice 4k screen), but I've spent plenty of time in the new home customising things and messing around, browsing the store and playing games from it. It's been great. Couple of hot fixes have already been issued to deal with guardian boundaries and steamVR game performance problems early on.

Love that you can initiate playing games by popping the cartridge in the old console... shame that only works for oculus bought titles and not steam ones. Most of the time I just launch normally, but its a neat touch.

You can roll back, so I would say give it a go personally if you're interested. If nothing else its a cool glimpse of where they are headed in terms of design/functionality.

How does one go about getting access to it?

The only weird thing I'm getting is my touch controllers appear over my head and the only way to get rid is to activate them and move them away...otherwise I'm quite impressed with the Beta...

My oculus order for a new cable and a third sensor has shipped today via UPS.
Only problem is it's due for delivery at my workplace on the 22nd, after we've finished for Christmas lol

Received my third sensor from Oculus today - yay :)
But can't use it yet as I'm still waiting for the replacement cable for the rift - boooo :(

Hope it arrives before Christmas.

You might consider buying a cable management system as well. I did, now I don't stand on the cable anymore or worry about getting tangled in it. Look up Midwec cable management system for the Rift. It's pretty cheap too, less than £25.

Haha, yeah I hope it arrives before Christmas too
They were both sent out together... But as lucky as ever, the item i really need is the one to experience a delay in shipping.

I have been thinking about a cable management system, but not sure I like the idea of permanent sticky hooks on my ceiling lol
Watched a video on youtube where a guy tried to remove one and it was just pulling all the paint off with it.
I'm also not completely finalised on my play area so will have to wait until then at least

If anyone wants to add me, my oculus id is Pyr0uk or steam is pyr073

Just wondering if anyone else is finding the Core 2.0 update impacting on game performance? I'm getting between 43 and 46fps in Racket Fury and the game is almost unplayable. However, when I switch back to Oculus Classic Home instead this jumps to 90fps (I've disabled ASW to make sure that wasn't the issue). The Oculus developers on reddit said they are working on a fix...

Yeah I am in the lucky situation where the look of my room doesn't really matter. It's a spare bedroom that I have used as an office for years now. It has never even got a proper paint job :) I used screw in hooks along with the sticky hooks because I put up two in the wrong spots!!! :p

Will add you to both steam and Oculus.

Have just download the 2.0 update so will check it out and get back to you. I don't have racket fury though.

Seems inconsistent for me. Racket fury actually seems OK, but Eleven seems to go through periods of slight judder (I notice it on the ball's flight) followed by utter smoothness.

Was thinking about going back to Classic, but I love the new Home so much.... I'm actually using it to treat my fear of heights.
