Just to chuck in an opinion on this thread from a lurker -

I read motors every day several times a day as I like to read about the cars and posters etc because there are good stories and things going on, I personally don't have a car nor do I drive so don't contribute but I enjoy reading what's going on.

I used to read most of the threads on the page as there was discussion in each - now I usually just open up this thread and maybe one or two other interesting ones because usually everything seems to be concentrated in here and not much going on elsewhere.

We used to get loads of greif for having random discussions in other threads.

Yeah, I saw that and for me that's what kept me reading this section of the forum because there was always good discussion and banter going on across the sub section in all of the threads.

Now it's just all in here and it seems the discussion is more about what people are having for dinner rather than discussing cars, as it was before.

I don't see what the fuss is about, I really can't believe DM's posts upset so many people, has nobody heard of the ignore function? Nobody is forced to read any of his posts. Doesn't exactly help that people bait him when he's drunk and then go running to the mods like children.

So Motors has a slight dip in quality? It's a natural thing, you can't expect it to be awesome all of the time.

The problem with this thread, in my opinion, is that it is not being used as originally intended. People are starting new topics within this thread, rather than starting a new one. This means there are less new topics in the forum.

My understanding of the original reason for this thread was that if a discussion in a thread is going off topic, then the off topic discussion from that thread can be continued in this thread. This was to stop thread derailment.

This was the original post from hurfdurf:

Is it about time Motors had a public off topic thread for discussing things outside of threads that have a topic that is being derailed?

Maybe I have misinterpreted it.

The only new topics are for tiny little things or off the cuff observations that don't merit an entire thread. I think it's handy for that.

Yup

This is a good thread for when someone has a quick question that doesn't really require a thread about it..

are those the same thing? link me up my good man :)

I'd say so, they're just up-selling them a bit!

It depends what fitting each of your interior lights use - Mine used a combination of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-4-LED-...CarParts_SM&hash=item1e64291c43#ht_4340wt_907 i.e. sidelight bulbs

and the barrel-shaped ones, I fitted some big bugger ones like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-White...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a6863b867 and they're nice and bright

I think my map reading lights used http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x1156-18...CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf67c6241#ht_2750wt_932 that sort as well

Obviously there's loads of different examples you can buy, some brighter than others! You'll need to check and make a list of the type of bulbs in each one you wanna swap then look for bulbs on eBay with as many LEDs in as possible ;)
