***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Raikkonen is taking a year out which is a shame ,we might never see him come back if he gets a good car to drive in the wrc.
buttons move to mac might not be so good for him, lewis will always be 1 there. i dont think button had too much choice since mercedes bought brawn they seem to want it too be a german driver line up.
it should be a good year next year with new teams and drivers and regular drivers in new cars.
who's gonna be the first team to run outta fuel ? Ferrarri ? :)

So Merc wouldn't pay Button's price but they will Kimi's? I don't believe the "It wasn't about the money" line from Button/Fry/Brawn. This is still the same Jenson Button who has tried to get out of contracts and demand high wages from the past.

He's hardly had a major pay difference from potential Brawn deal to McLarens offer, and I doubt Mercedes will pay the miserable robot what he was getting at Ferrari. Like the likes of Barrichello, he will probably have to take a pay hit to stay in the sport or take a "sabbatical" like his fellow Finn Hakkinen and eventually never return.

they had boards in 98? check the silverstone vid i posted , spa was even worse in 98 and i think monza might have been really wet aswell

I think 1994 was when the boards were introduced. MS and Bennetton were found to have a board that was deemed illegal at Spa, where he had his race win wiped out and banned for the next 3 races.

I don't think anybody else has ever been caught with running an illegal board.

he was disqualified because the skid plate was worn down to much at the end of the race.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ggo9bcGlzr8 probably didnt do the skid plate any favors looks ike it would have been dragged right across the kerb.

it was never deemed an "illegal skid plate" it was an fia spec skid plate as they all are 10mm thick , must not be worn down by more than 1mm.

i think mclaren got caught out by having a to worn skid plate once to

FUNNY IF TRUE!

'BREACH OF CONTRACT COST BUTTON £12M'

Also this made me laugh:
"Clearly, loyalty would be nice but in this day and age you don't expect too much of that."

Sour grapes from Mr Fry. JB stood by you with the dog cars from honda, Cheeky. I cant see brawn being a front runner next year, not when Mclaren and Ferrari stopped 09 dev to start 2010 mid season.

Yep not many would have stayed through that, he was lucky it paid off but it could have been all wasted as well.

I expect Button will earn more over the three years at Mclaren, will have a more stable future and will become more famous with the 'Team GB' element of it.

So, Button is a sell out but it turns out his team are a bunch of cry babies too. Button was loyal, very loyal indeed, but risked his career by not going elsewhere during the time of uncertainty. Now they publish drivel like that from the team he helped take to a WDC and WCC.

I'd expect that kind of reaction from the bigger teams who talk about their drivers like they're livestock, but not the Brawn team. Oh well, what a farce. I hope Button knows what he could potentially be getting into.

Am I right to think Ferrari are will still be paying Kimi 17 million (dollars? euros?) for 2010 as the final year in his three year contract?

Does this mean he remains contracted to Ferrari and if he were to sign for another F1 team he'd lose his Ferrari money? If that's the case then Kimi would be looking for at least 17 million and/or a multi year deal. No wonder he can't find anything.
