***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Not necessarily.

In saying all that, I don't believe that Vettel's problem was due to low fuel. Spark plug fault makes more sense.

I will still argue the point that if the spark plug had failed where was the flames coming out of the exhaust caused by the fuel not being burned?

As I have said the ECU turned the fuel off to the fuel injector.

There is a train of thought that they ran so lean the heat build up caused a spark plug failure. I've seen that said on a few forums over the last few days in relation to failures of spark plugs when running lean.
That makes a lot of sense. I like that theory.

Webber did not go as fast as Vettel in the race so that would save him fuel..

So let me get this right, your saying Vettel running in clean air the whole race upto the failure uses more fuel than Webhead running in traffic in dirty air?

Everything I've ever read or been told about how these cars react in dirty air would disagree with that.

Personally I hope the conspiracy is true and the red bull needs to add more fuel because running 10 kilos lighter than everyone else is some advantage and I'd like to see a closer fight when it's not a driver I support winning :D

Surely if the ECU can shut the injector down to save fuel it can also shut the injector down if the plug fails? I think its more than likely it could have been a plug failure and untill any proper evidence comes to light showing otherwise it certainly makes sense.

Being in a pack would save fuel I'd have thought. You just lose grip when behind another car don't you?

I would agree, it may not be much but running at a slower pace than Vettel should have saved him some fuel.

Who are you supporting this year, apart from Button?

He's lost downforce and grip. he will be working atleast as hard on the throttle as Vettel who can be much more smooth on the use of the throttle.

I'd say webber was using atleast as much fuel as Vettel being stuck in dirty air. The engine would not be as efficient.

You can tell it was a dull race seeing as all the after talk is just about whether Vettel had a broken spark plug or not.

Still dont believe it because MArk wasn't having issues and if Sebs started as early as lap 33 you can bet Webber would have had the same issue unless the problem was caused by either running so lean or he had a fuel leak.

I would love to be able to tell you exactly how close to the truth you are but, i am not really allowed. Its a Renault issue but not in the way you think, although you are along the right lines. Scarily so.

LMAO :D

But I will go on and say that Renault's engine boss Rob White says that
"The investigation to identify the reason for Vettel's engine problem is ongoing," he said.
"A problem with the spark plug was found, but we have no reason to suspect a defect in the component itself."

I will only accept the job of driver sadly :D

Only a few days until Melbourne, is there going to be an official F1 thread going up or is it so bad this year nobody can be bothered? :D

Don't you know?! We all have a boring race and moan like hell about nickity pickity bits and how dull it was and then..

..we all line up with baited breath for the next race!

:D
Keep what i said under your hat mate. Will arrange a walkabout later in the year if your interested.

Naturally, nice to be shared that info :)

I work in Luton so I'm not far from Milton Keynes, a visit would be very nice. My seat fitting shouldn't take long I'm about the same size as Vettel :D
