***Official 2010 F1 thread***

he's a rally driver not a f1 driver...

i believe a f1 driver could come out to be a rally driver but in no way believe a rally driver can come and be a f1 driver

good pr stunt though i suppose, not that it interests me in the slightest...will be more excited to see massa back on the track :)

Never happen, hes uber slow in a GP2 car so will be badoer'ing about at the back in F1. Dangerous

If a top F1 driver can become a top rally driver - then I dont see why it would be that much more difficult the other way round

(Im not saying its possible either way, but if it can be done one way - then it surely can be done the other, if anything its harder going into rallying (as you have to at least diagnose issues mid stage if not fix them, cope with different surfaces (on one event) and cope with delayed starts etc and over longer periods (as in 3 days rather than 90 minututes - 2hrs)

Ive purposefully discredited f1 - its not that easy, but I dont see why its that much more difficult one way rather than the other)

I am not totally convinced it is his neck that is the problem, it doesn't take that long to heal, does it?

I said that initially lol - so Im right with you, however IF there was still a visible crack (via a scan /xray rather than naked eye lol) when Massa was originally injured I cant see how it could have improved as much in the little intervening time (looking at the time interval between the accident that caused it and his "failed" comeback - and compare that to between the failed come back and two weeks time), I just cant see it making much difference

To be fair i think F1 drivers put a lot lot more input in for there cars then rally drivers, 1 of the main aspect's of a F1 team is there driver feeding them with information to the mechanics just to get that 1/10th of a second out of the car...Yes rally drivers do same but i very much doubt as much as a f1 driver

I think put some F1 drivers in a rally championship i bet some wouldn't come last...Put any rally driver in a f1 car and i would put money on it they'll be last by a long way

Either way they both need incredible talent to be apart of :)

How much of that is down to the cheapness of rallying though? I mean, relatively speaking, anyone can have a crack at it if they want, so the bottom end of rallying is full of 'average' drivers (again relatively speaking) which you would expect any F1 driver to beat, where as even the bottom end of F1 is a highly competitive spot that in some cases means you need to be a champion of a feeder series to even get given a drive.

If rallying was limited to the 20 best drivers and no more competitors, the F1 drivers would probably have a lot tougher time keeping up.

Im not sure it would be that clear cut - but then I guess rally's have stages which are as long as most F1 races so the differences are that much more crucial in an f1 race

Any way good hyperthetical question (even if Loeb does do one race, its still only one example - you would have to have a lot of talent crossing both ways to know for sure);)

Barrichello to Williams (if my Spanish or Portugese is good enough)

prays No 1 doesnt go with him lol

If it is Cossy as well, it would be as tragic as seeing DH starting from the back of the grid in Aus in the Arrows Yamaha in 97

Williams will always be one of my favourite teams - but they havent had a decent engine supplier for sooooo long its really unfortunate (but at least they are still on the grid I guess)

Silverstone have to go for a two or three year deal at the very least imo (they would be lucky to get 3, I cant see Bernie agreeing to longer)

With so many tracks /venues "at risk" for next year, DH has got the best chance in years of being tough and negotiating hard
