***Official 2010 F1 thread***

The easy way around being sued is for ferrari to turn up at the GP, and not race. Or just mod this years car and put one lap in a race.

I also like this idea, and they really only need to enter one car don't they? Unless it actually states in their contract that they must run 2 cars. All they really need to do is have like 10 guys at the track with 1 car, and some young driver who's happy to drive for free. People will argue that it's making a joke of the sport, but F1 will be a joke next year if the FIA have their way.

YAY go fia ***** *****

It's not what the sport needs or wants. Just back down and agree to one set of rules and a budget of about 150mill, half that what they are spending this year.

The 2005 United States Grand Prix was one of the most controversial Formula One motor races in modern history. It was held on June 19, 2005 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was the ninth race of the 2005 Formula One Season. Out of 20 cars entered for the race, only the six cars using Bridgestone tyres (2 cars from each of the Ferrari, Minardi and Jordan teams) competed. The remaining fourteen entrants, all using Michelin tyres, retired after the parade lap due to safety concerns.

Todays FIA Statement?

FIA to issue legal proceedings against FOTA... 2010 entry list delayed.

http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=38220

Interesting.....

The actions of FOTA as a whole, and Ferrari in particular, amount to serious violations of law including wilful interference with contractual relations, direct breaches of Ferrari's legal obligations and a grave violation of competition law. The FIA will be issuing legal proceedings without delay.

You know, for an organisation that according to some on here is rabidly pro-Ferrari, they don't seem to be doing much pro-Ferrari-ing right now....;)

What i never understood about the budget cap is, teams are running about 400mil just now, mosley wants that down to 40 mil, what is gonna happen with the remaining 360 mil?

The team would surely still earn the same amount of money, he just wants them to spend less.

sponsors would pay less? bernie would probably try to keep more of the pot than he already does lol

i think a new series without one guy getting a massive share and the teams getting to fight over scraps would be good

Its laughable that they're trying to cut the budget when bernie takes such a large chunk of money out of the series as a whole. The money needs to be ploughed back into the sport, whether that be into the teams or supporting other series feeding drivers/tech into the new formula, not just filling bernie's bank account. It's time for a clean break and hopefully we'll never see bernie or max again.

Mr Spank aka Mosley said:
Silverstone may keep British GP
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/76330
FIA president Max Mosley says it is "highly probable" that the British Grand Prix will take place at the Silverstone circuit again next year.

Can Bernie and Max make their minds up?

I think if FOTA does split Silverstone will not want the F1 GP and would rather host the FOTA GP - or if they do host the F1 GP they would want to do it at a HUGE discount

Jacques made the point on the radio today that a split series killed open wheel racing in the states. It never recovered from what was once a fantastic championship. I think the same would be true of FIA and Fota series racing. People would just cease to care even more than they already have.

Yup, they could sticker their car up with adverts for the FOTA series, and basically just cruise round and fail to qualify every week. :)

I was thinking this earlier, I haven't seen so many 'Ferrari International Assist' comments lately. :D

Would you still be friends with your best friend if he stabbed you in the back and turned all your other friends against you at the same time?

Nice try at an analogy there, but it doesn't really hold IMO as the situation is far more complex than that. To me, it's more like the following:

You set up a club, and for many years people come and go. One day, you decide to change a fundamental rule that governs if you can be in the club or not. Most of your current members don't like the idea. Some guys that want to join the club do like it, but they really aren't that well known and it's quite a prestigious club. One of the most prestigious members is really quite vocal about how bad the idea is. You liked having that club member around when they didn't question your authority, but now you feel rather threatened by them. But your ego is so huge that you won't compromise. Those club members then announce that they might well set up a rival club since no compromise is possible. You then throw a complete hissy fit.

If anyone wants to correct the above, they should feel free. But that's my take on it.
