***Official 2010 F1 thread***

ok then, but still the tracks PAY the sport, not the other way around, so FOTA wont have a issue there.

I'm trying to find the article I was reading last week about the funding and sponsors. They said if a new formula started the money would fragment so much due to viewing figures and TV rights that the teams would end up having to pay for the races until such a time it became the main racing event.

Vodafone are not going to want to pay 8gazillion a year to fund a team in an inferior series with nothing like the TV coverage.

That's the problem they face with the current F1 with the introduction of budget caps though innit.

There was an article that said if F1 and FOTA split, FOM would lose 2.2 Billion a year.

But as the BBC are already trying to get out of their F1 contract if there is a split, i dare say many other broadcasters are looking at it too, and F1 will be the one to lose, not the FOTA series.

They will both lose. They all know it. The BBC will be trying to get out of the contract because they now realise they were mugged last year. Bernie sold them the series on the back of a bidding war that didn't exist.

They paid well over the odds. Or we all all did.

F1 is slowly dieing anyway. People are no longer interested in a sport where two or three cars win in the last 30 years, team mates don't fight each other and the car is 95% of the championship and the driver 5% if that.

To the general public F1 is just the best car winning. It no longer puts bums on seats because it's not exciting enough. Entertainment in all forms has moved on so much, people demand more for their time and F1 no longer delivers.

Again it won't split anyway because a deal will be done.

Even though there were record crowds at Silverstone? Turkey i can understand being empty, they dont even have a car manafacturer let alone a race team. Some of the new circuits are probably a draw purely because they are new but generally the older tracks have a fanbase regardless.

a lot depends of the drivers nationality whose winning. TV and attendance figures dropped in Montreal when JV had his years out. There isn't too much fuss about hosting another f1 event either.

I have pictures of Barca the year before alonso came on the scene. The place was dead. If you had a grandstand seat they would let you sit where ever you wanted such was the choice and spare places.

Now the place is rammed.

To be fair no one cares about the race attendance figures apart from the circuit owners who have to balance the books. The tv viewing figures never even picked up in this country despite hamilton. ITV wanted out because they couldn't generate enough money from advertising due to the drop off of viewers.

Im not sure if losing Hockenhiem will be much of a loss, not the track it used to be.

Nurburgring does not want to host the event every year; so we may end up with no German GP period - and it will be replaced by another pointless boring Arab GP with no fans there.

Interesting read on who may get drives next season with the new teams.

Danica Patrick is ****. I hope she gets a drive just for the laughs. Even when she had the 100 pound weight advantage she was a joke.

If she wasn't mildly attractive no one would have ran her. Or as a good friend of mine put it at the start of the last year....

She is entering her 13th season of competitive racing in cars of various formulae. In that time she was won(drumroll).......

ZERO RACES.

That's right, she's won as many races as I have. 'Cept, of course, I haven't had 12 years of trying.

She finished first-in-class in the Toyota Pro-Celebrity Race in Long Beach in 2002 (mainly, imho, because the driver who followed her with his nose firmly planted on her rear fender wanted to shtup her), but the overall winner of the race was a swimmer.

I thought she won one recently?

Edit - it was 2008 at Motegi. But still, you're right, she's not really any good, she's just eye candy.

While I don't entirely disagree with the point you are trying to make, you might want to get your facts correct first.

Read the full post numpty :p. I posted...

"Or as a good friend of mine put it at the start of the last year...." IE at the start of 08.

She had a 100 pound advantage up until they changed the ruling on cars weight in IRL. She claimed that advantage made no difference.

What also irks me is the way she plays the female card, getting agressive and pushing male drivers safe in the knowledge not one of them is going to put her on her backside. Look at the complete arse she made of herself at the indy 500 going after Briscoe.

The IRL is a joke anyway. The standard was so much higher when they ran one series.
