***Official 2010 F1 thread***

My comment about Barrichello ... but Williams could be his last F1 slot..

Almost certainly.

I actually fancied him to be a No.2 driver to Hamilton. As a No.2 he is very good and reliable and brings in a decent amount of points. He did a great job for MS and could do a good job for Hamilton. The problem is that he is getting very old now.

Blimey, it seems Jenson could be heading to McLaren after all. Mixed about feelings about it really - part of me would like to see him at McLaren as it would be a great spectacle - the other part knows that he'll probably be better off staying at Brawn. Either way, next season is going to be epic. ;)

The most interesting aspect of thiis Brawn / Mercedes / McLaren development is about sponsorship for next year.

McLaren have recently had a fire-sale where they got rid of a lot of branded clothing . . . I wonder why

I think it's probably not connected, just an end of season sale, they will still be using mercedes engines.

(Cropped for brevity's sake)

They will certainly promise Button equal status, on paper. In reality, Button would arrive in a team which is based around Hamilton. This would make it almost impossible for him to finish ahead of Hamilton for 2 reasons:

1. Hamilton is settled in the team and knows the workings of the team. Psychologically,

2. It is clear that Button requires the car to have perfect handling, just the way he likes it;

3. Button will have to go up..........
.

Whilst I agree 1-3 are valid.. The opening statement troubles me. Is Mclaren that heavily pro Hamilton over Button (incoming WC!)? Genuine question, just trying to draw this out into open discussion really :)

Well shocked to hear that. Hope Button gets a drive at Mclaren now.....
Even if he does get beaten by Hamilton next year, who is to say he won't give Ferrari and others a run for the money.

Should be interesting to see what happens now.

Although McLaren have never ben my favourite team, i wouldnt mind seeing Button end up there. for me it will give him his best chance to pick up race win, season after season (after all, when was the last time McLaren really made a mess of it? 1995?).

The team may be currently built around Hamilton, but they will have had to have made some sacrafice with the handling of the car for next year to stop Hamilton ruining the tyres and having to pit more often - any changes in that direction are bound to suit Buttons driving style

also, Britain Vs Germany next year (engines aside), should be interesting to see which team has the better car - both teams seem to have been working on the 2010 car about the same length of time

"Mercedes has confirmed that Brawn will be its works team next year. Cars will be Silver Arrows. McLaren will get Merc engines to 2015"

So Brawn/Merc will be silver cars, will Mclaren stay silver, or will they go red (for Vodafone).

Would be great if they could find a second sponsor with white livery, and colour the car like the old Marlborough livery.
