***Official 2010 F1 thread***

So Brawn/Merc will be silver cars, will Mclaren stay silver, or will they go red (for Vodafone).

Would be great if they could find a second sponsor with white livery, and colour the car like the old Marlborough livery.
They should go black and red, would look evil :)

McLaren will be staying silver and red as before and will still be called Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes.

McLaren were and are an independent company, so are Mercedes. When you put 2 highly independent bodies together it is simply a matter of time before disconnects start and fractures in direction start to show their head. Add in The Ron and his view of the world and it's not that suprising really. Mercedes want to control more than Ron wants them too, time for them to have their own team then.

I just took this off AtlasF1 Forum, thought it quite interesting around F1 drivers stats.

When you consider how reliable a modern F1 car is compared to the 50s/60s and 70s it makes for some interesting reading to see where the greats sit in the list...

Looks like Button was ***** by the team he stood by - look what happens in F1 when you stick by someone - you get stabbed in the back!!

Reigning world champ forced out of team by new owners - and by **** Heidfeld of all people

Button has a chance to be competitive at McLaren due to the additional fuel load, but its a very slim one imo, the whole team is so heavily structured in Hamilton's favour it will hardly be a fair fight

right he was forced out because its not like he was ever made an offer.

wanting more money than a team is prepared to pay is forced out how? cant blame him wanting more money though because its not like he is ever going to win a world championship again , best try to rake in all he can before he is just another midfield driver like he used to be

So will they close Brackley and ship everything to Germany then, or just back the team and change the name on the building/hats?

EDIT - just read Duke's link to Autosport, looks like they're staying in Brackers :).

With Merc taking such a controlling amount of the team, Brawn wouldnt have much say, and seeing as in the last couple of years (even before he owned the team) Brawn himself has said how good a driver Jenson is (and notice how few times he said anything about Barrichello in the same time frame)

I have to say Brawn (team) offer to Button of £4m for next year (if true, just coming from some reports last week /weekend) is a bit of a mickey take considering they had huge title sponsers already organised (and JB agreeing a £5m reduction last season)

Forced out by Merc so they can have all German lineup

He wasnt even after more money than his orginal contract allowed for last season - without being world champ, lets see how much Heidfeld and Rosberg get paid and then see how that compares to what Brawn paid last season and where prepared to pay this season for the reigning WC (I can gaurentee it will be a **** of a load more than the £4m offered to Button)

stop being a compete wum for once in your life!!!!

Button should really stay with Brawn now that merc have controlling stake. I can't bellive he is even thinking about moving to mclaren.

He wasn't Brawn have been stalling until this was announced, they never offered Jenson a good deal because they didn't want him to take it and ruin mercedes plans.

I was informed this would happen a week or so ago which Is why I was saying Button needs to sign for Mclaren asap.

Its the same thing that happened to Villeneuve at Sauber. Regardless that he outperformed a German he was moved aside and gradually alienated. The same will happen to Button at Mercedes. Nick Heidfeld was out of a job then BMW came knocking. Hes out of a job again and Merc are going to bail him out.

He's done nothing of note ever.

Doesn't look like it is Buttons decision, looks like he has no choice as apparently mercedes want 2 german drivers.

Exactly.

I expect Ross Brawns popularity to suffer :D

Normally, I would prefer to have Kimi in the 2nd McLaren, rather than Button. However, the more I think about it, one thing Button knows is how to finish races. He is a very safe driver who always brings the car home in respectable positions. This is the very definition of a good No.2 driver.

Hamilton and a good No.2 driver (who doesnt step on Hamilon's toes) is ideally what McLaren need. Kimi and Button would both meet the requirements. Heikki's problem over the last 2 years is that although he usually brings the car home safely, he isn't fast enough during the race. This is something which Kimi or Button should both be able to solve.

Perhaps McLaren should take on Button.

What Button should do is accept Brawns lower offer and **** up nick heidfeld :D

Neither Rosberg or Heidfeld are good enough to take on a title battle. This always happens when the germans take over.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Shumi announced as driver ;)
