The real problem is the track, yes the drivers should be better, but if they can they will drive to the edge especially if they’re struggling. The corners which are problematic are high speed, I’m sure remodelling the track slightly would help. Maybe straighten 9 and tighten 10.
Mind you hulk got track limits when he parked his car.

The problem is not the track! Yes they could remodel the track by putting a wall directly on the outside or a strip of grass (or similar) so the drivers lose time running wide and I'd bet everything I own that like magic all the drivers would be able to keep it within track limits all of a sudden.

All these penalties are ridiculous but it's really down to each driver to stay within the track limits. It's not like it was wet and they're meant to be some of the best drivers in the world.

These are just the penalties applied after the race? How many were there in total including those given during the race?

If the merc isn't even remotely close next year he would be mad not to start looking elsewhere (or just retire).

There doesn’t seem to be a realistic “elsewhere”. You’d expect RB to stay up there. No guarantee Ferrari will be better than Merc next year. Merc will presumably change their design philosophy too.

Hamilton - 5 seconds
Sainz - 5 seconds
Tsunoda - 5 seconds and later on 10 seconds
Magnussen - 5 seconds
Sargeant - 5 seconds
Albon - 5 seconds
de Vries - 5 seconds (for forcing a car off the track)
Gasly - 5 seconds

Either they need to add a physical penalty for running wide next year, or bring in a truck load of stewards watching every car on every corner.

Having the result changed so long after the race is ridiculous. Great news for Norris though, all that nagging for his engineer paid off.

I won't be watching any more races where this happens. It's absolutely pointless.

If by time podium is up the results aren't confirmed something needs to change.

Voted the race a 3 because apart from the Perez/Sainz battle there wasn't a massive amount of action on track, the track limits shenanigans hours after it's finished has just made a mockery of it all.

Bet Ham is even more furious now after being dropped a place!
Should have kept it on the road. :D
As an Alonso fan, I'm pretty happy to see that result. Also a great one for Norris!

They should put gravel down at that corner. If these drivers can't be bothered keeping it within the lines, give them something that'll cause some damage.
People can blame the track or the FIA, but there were several drivers who weren't hit with penalties today. Maybe we should look at why they didn't feel the need to ignore that rule?

So how did they keep it on track last year?

Some decent mid race / place scraps but Max just taking the **** now - 4 stops, fastest lap "cause he can" - Said a while back both championships will be over with 7/8 races to go.

Boring and predicable - Even Horner has nothing to be whining about just now, so the off track stuff is even boring.

If you want "track limits" to be properly driven within, make it gravel outside the line........ Penalties after the race are just stupid....

And I’ve said it time and time again, this is exactly why Hamilton fans won’t let 2021 go. I’m just hoping that what he said recently means that Merc have actually given up on this year and are working their behinds off for next years car.

As for these revised results, absolute lols. F1 is becoming more and more of a joke every race. :(
I don't think any same f1 fan would let that go. It was shocking.

I reckon ham would have retired or just took a back seat and help Russell become world class.

Max would have still won last year onwards though and would be fair game. Hamilton gives up the reigns in tyring to win titles and max takes over to dominate. Win win for everyone really

He needs to move to RB to get another shot at the championship, obviously thats a crazy scenario with chances of that happening at like 1%. But if he really wants it that's the only team that can currently give him a shot in this era.

If the merc isn't even remotely close next year he would be mad not to start looking elsewhere (or just retire).

I agree it's his only chance, but zero chance Horner would take him and even less than zero chance that Max would accept it.

We didn't have this last year, what's changed?
Mostly just the FIA trying things. I’m sure there were plenty track limit violations last year but they’ve now decided to take action.

Honestly, if they can’t deal with these things during the race, they shouldn’t do it.
