It was an issue last year but not by so much as I think the kerbs on turns 9 & 10 were raised and subsequently causing damage to the cars even if they didn't exceed the track limits. Thus they lowered them.
The fia has now made a request to the track owners to modify these corners so it doesn't occur again but the trouble is the motorcycling chaps don't want walls or gravel traps.
Remains to be seen what solution they come up with next year...

It's so egregious to change the results afterwards.

I don't agree. It's better to ensure the race results are fair than ensure they arrive swiftly. The range of infringements that can only be checked post-race means that you cannot have a simple "in race" rule anyway

It's not like this is a frequent occurrence.

What is even more ridiculous is that the top three weren’t given penalties even though there was enough evidence to penalise the likes of Perez just like the rest of the top ten.

Exactly, its pretty rare and while this has looked like a bit of a farce there's plenty of other things that get checked after the race on the cars that could cause results to change, its just rare now that a car fails to pass scrutineering.

In your opinion there was plenty of evidence, the stewards obviously disagreed with all their wealth of camera angles, etc (including access to stuff we don't see on the feed)

So how did they keep it on track last year?

Does it matter?

You drive the track that’s in front of you. These best drivers in the world can get around the twistys of Monaco, Miami and Baku and through high speed sweeping corners of Monza, Silverstone and Spa but the last 2 corners of Red Bull ring the track are too difficult? What a load of rubbish.

No, the answer is the cars can physically get round the corners (as in they have enough steering lock etc) so the drivers are just taking the pee and need to go in to those corners a couple mph slower and they won’t get a penalty.

A question for whom-so-ever adds the polls - with Sprint Race weekends should we switch to rating the weekend rather than just the GP. I give the GP a 7/10, but both qualis and the sprint were great so I'd give it an 8/10 overall.

We didn't have this last year, what's changed?

This video summarises it quite well.

Change from last year to apply strict white line limits to every track and every corner rather than track by track/corner by corner limits
More personel and cameras plus auto technology monitoring
T10 having a habit of pushing cars wider under compression.
Rule not previously applied consistently.

It says just under 1500 infringements , lol.

Its all got a bit sillly and it will be like this from now on at every track , with lots of post race protests. Not a good look.

I was looking at the tables earlier, and noticed Hülkenberg is lifting Haas two whole constructors championship places compared to where Haas would be with a cloned KMag in that seat. Clearly the right signing, despite my dislike of the decision.

More likely the drivers will take it seriously in future and it will not be much of a problem again.

FIA as poor as ever.

I blame the drivers more than the FIA for this. They collectively embarrassed themselves.

Interesting from that video that it was (allegedly?) more a case of better detection rather than something major had changed, and that seems like a good thing really.

Perhaps the penalty system should just be automated to avoid this issue? Including a message to the driver/dash to warn them. Would largely/entirely save this problem surely.

Or, things like gravel traps... Surely it would be pretty easy to have a gravel trap with a cover, for motorbike racing/other stuff put the cover on and it's all good, for F1 take the cover off and watch as the drivers magically learn how to keep to track limits.
