***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

65C isn't too awful. What about 1.43v with LLC extreme?

Can you explain llc to me? I don't really understand which way it works. Is extreme tightening the permisable voltage variations, or slackening them?

Just realised that overdrive includes FPU calcs so I'm a little less annoyed with the temps now!

Normally when the CPU is under load the voltage drops (vdroop), which can cause a crash. LLC counters that by raising the voltage the higher load the CPU has. If it's perfectly balanced you just won't see any change, but usually extreme will make the voltage slightly rise under full load instead.

Lots of great clocks on these :)

Best Overclocking chip ive ever owned if im being honest, also buying a refurbed H80 is also one of the best investments ive ever made.

Actually you know what im chuffed to bits with it really, Ive taken a £120 processor & squeezed this much out of it.

Ah, makes perfect sense. I'd forgotten about vdroop. Thanks

Yeah, it's impressive how far they go. Yours will outperform a 9590 in multithreaded stuff (as that runs at 4.7GHz).

:D I was at 4.6 and I was thinking maybe I should stop there, then everyone started posting updates on their clocks so I thought ah you know what I'll push it past the 9590 and be done.

FX8320 ftw

A nice little community is forming, brings a smile to ones face. :D

+1 to this never thought asking a question about my cpu would make the thread go this far :)

All the amd users are out in force intel who? Good job guys lets keep it going

My own progress bk down to 4.8 for my 24/7 use more than enuff really low temps and voltage so Im happy. After a week gaming with it im chuffed really responsive and destroys all games. Only thing left to do is put gpu into my water loop
