***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

8.1 doesn't have a start menu.
Correcting this is getting almost as tiresome as correcting Crossfire myths lol.

8.1 has a start button, do you know what it does? Takes you to the modern UI.
It just kind of unhides what was in Windows 8, but has a Windows icon.

And that's running the full blown RTM 8.1 build.

Windows 8 handles more cores better than 7, but it won't be massive. I expect Vista will be quite a bit behind though.

It's fine if you ignore Metro and just use the desktop - basically identical to 7.

ahh so not ground breaking results may hang of a bit

i seem to always wanna spend improving this thing when i dont need to, im sure its more obsession than passion now need to break this and get back to gaming dam you forums lol, after i put gpu under water! :p

:D

be happy with what you got.. otherwise the whole point of a pc to you will be nothing but overclocking with the goal moving further and further away til youv got no money and no fingers after freezing them off in a liquid nitrogen cooling gone wrong post :D

You've got 4.9GHz at really low voltage and temps, if you can't hit 5GHz it'll almost certainly be because your board won't handle it. It's fine if you're enjoying tweaking it, but give it up if it gets frustrating :)

lmao dude your so right i was happy with 4.5ghz but then wanted more and it keeps going im gonna get 4.9ghz stable as possible and stic there, iwas gonna stic with 4.8ghz for everyday use but considering voltage and temps i think 4.9ghz wont hurt here :D

battlefield will take up all my time soon, anyways i have medal of honour and it said i can get beta but can i? NOOOO i cant grr. hate origin

Im stuck on vista too, funnily enough I done a clean install on a 60gb ssd, 47gb later Vista had finished patching and updating :(

If you turn off system restore before doing all the updates you can save a lot of space. But I'd seriously get off Vista if you can, it's a horrible OS :p

Ha ha yeah I know, I'll probably move over to Windows 8 but im kind of holding on for Steam os & see if that is any good. If I can browse the net, watch movies & play all my games I'll ditch windows altogether.

Haven't tried yet mate, more fans & haribo coming tomorrow :D will fit them first then give it a whirl. I did try a few cinebenches at 4.7 earlier quickly without changing the volts and BSOD. So I know I'm on just the voltages for 4.6 at least. I'm only on 1.3ish volts, 51° core and 59° socket so got some headroom. Especially if I can run H80 fans quicker now.

4.7 does sound so much nicer than 4.6 ;) I don't think heat's your issue but you can take voltage a lot higher with your extra cooling.

Wifey is finishing work early tonight so wont get chance to do any more tweaking, may look at the FSB this time though as it seems to give a bit better results.
