***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

I would run it after installing just the CPU's, if your leaving it overnight put it on the option down from full. Monitor your temps, this will also check your cooling is able.

Let me know about your buddy, I will be on a charity event tomorrow till late afternoon. I will be around after if you don't find out before then.

Let's keep the momentum up and maybe even get into some games when all is stable! :D

ok will give it a shot tonight ;)

he is coming round tomorrow so will let u know asap

yeah we should all get into a game post some ideas guys of what we should play? great bunch of guys lets get our game on!

i will kick off by saying i play payday2, most shooter games, racing games

Hi guys, just built an 8320 system on a gigabyte 990FXA UD3. I am using g skill ripsaws z 16gb 1866 MHz memory as I already had the spare kit ( it is quad channel). The 8320 over clocks fine to 4.7+ ghz at good temps but the minute I try to put the memory above 1600 MHz, it crashes. The only timings it likes at 1600 are very loose - 11,11,11 28

Is the quad channel kit, which occupies all the ram slots, giving the IMC a headache? Should I just get a good dual channel kit such as a 2 x 8 gb kit?

have you upped the ram voltage? try 1.6v or 1.65v

Thanks farmerboy, will try it

will the ram go above 1600mhz with the cpu at stock speeds? and what revision is your board? :)

My board is rev 3.0. I got it to boot by just setting XMP profile 1 which is at 1866 MHz and 9-10-9-28, with no CPU overclock. The kit is meant to be able to do this at 1.5v. Tried running OCCT with this and got about 2 mins before error appeared.

Hey all, new member to the group here.
Got my 8320, sabertooth and h80 tucked away in a drawer waiting for the rest of the system to be bought.

thinking of going for the corsair 540 case but still undecided on which GPU.

I'm slowly reading through the thread but most of its going over my head at the moment.
I'll be back asking for lots of help when I get it all up and running :)

Welcome mate, we'll have you running at least 4.8Ghz in no time!!:D

Thanks farmerboy, will try it

Yea Bump the CPU/NB up to at least 1.25 and see how she plays. The CPU IMC can do that speed ram and then some, I'm currently @ 1974Mhz 11-11-11-27 Using 1.304 on the CPU/NB.

Once I'm under water, that's going up!

I might add that's with a CPU overclock of 4.8Ghz 1.51v

Thanks I'm a bit of a noob with AMD boards. In the bios settings I can see settings for:

NB core - that doesn't give a voltage reading but you can still adjust it?!
DRAM voltage - standard 1.5 V but I set it to 1.65 V
HT link voltage - 1.2 V - do I do anything with this?
NB voltage - 1.1 V - should I put this up to 1.25 V?

There is PLL voltage etc but I assume I ignore that. Also, at bone stock settings, my CPU is being fed 1.4V. When I disable core boost, it drops to 1.32V. I seem to be able to OC to 4.6GHz (FX 8320) quite stable at 1.4V with regular LLC.

Thanks in advance.

i assume nb core will be cpu nb vid. mine doesnt give a value either. iv read elsewhere that this is 1.175 and is safe upto 1.3v .. iv never adjusted mine beyond +0.050 however ;)

The IMC can handle 1.4v no problem, wouldnt go over that though. Anyways, 1.4v gave me the ability to run 2400 RAM on a vishera :D
