***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

Add me in

CPU - FX 8320 @ 4.9 GHz, 1.54V
Board - Asus MA990FX - 245MHz bus x20. HT/NB HT-2700MHz NB-2458
Ram - 16Gb ddr3 Kingston HyperX Genesis 1600 @ 1966MHz 11-11-11-27 1.55V,
Cooling - XSPC RS 360 Rad, EK Block, Alphacool DC-LT pump and Res

this is totally Stable. 5Ghz stable is proving difficult to master, but we'll see!

CB - as the 8350 option fell through I am thinking of replicating your setup but getting the 'pro' version as its only a tenner more. I don't know if the features are worth it but now that I see you have go a 8320 near 5Ghz I think this is what I will go for.

It's a good shout mate, this board has nearly all the features of the Sabertooth board for less money and of course it's 990FX to boot.

I think the only board better than this one is the Crosshair V but thats mucho cash.

Yeah I was thinking similar thaughts but trying to save some cash as a liquid cooler is between 50-100.

I was also going to match a new case to fit the cooling solution at the top - another expense. Trying to match up all the components now before phase II of working on the wife.

Think I am gonna have to go finance on this on over 6 months!!

CB - do you know in crossfire does it run 16xdual and what speed RAM is ideal on these boards (it's been a while knowing what to buy for each generation)?

Sorry but RAM is confusing we have:

DDR3 Quad, Triple, and Dual channel. Speeds are 1333, 1600, 1800mhz.

Sacking the 16Gb off as I would love that but nearly £100 is too much so 8Gb (2x4) will have to do for now!

So you'll want Dual Channel at the quickest speed you can afford. I don't recommend Corsair as it does'nt clock well. I do recommend Kingston as it does with this board at least.;)

Nice guide I shall follow that later this evening when I install the board and CPU.

Yep good guide. My CHVFZ just arrived, what a beauty!

The only thing in the guide I would avoid like the plague is AI suite. In my opinion it is total garbage and in a previous system a cause of many hangups. Not to mention totally inaccurate temp readings. Use trusted third party software.

I placed an order for new rig but it's not listed on the processed status yet. (excited but not counting chickens yet).
