***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

I agree with the above posts prime is not suited with these chips and in the real work when are we likely to see these temps? I still use prime to see if voltages are ok at desired overclock, then use aida64 and amd test.

Also asus do a benchmark programme thats quite good forget name, but google asus benchmark and it'll pop

Also good to see thread coming along so well

How can we get this as a sticky as well?

i wouldnt say theyre all the same.. ok theres not a lot to seperate maybe the top 10, but theres still some that just perform 'better'

totally agree not saying every single one the ame but when it comes to the major ones ie ic diamond artic silver ect there really aint anything in it. i was just saying as he said whole strip down, i did same to be disappointed by the result :D

guys i have a tough decision last night we were talking about best board, i was all set on crosshair but now sabertooth on sale grrrr.
i want the best board for clocking but is crosshair really worth £190 when i can get sabertooth for £137.

will i be disappointed in sabertooth i dont know?

tbh, going for the most expensive 'best' board sort of defeats the point of overclocking imo.

how come? being a better built board with better vrm, which is usually the resulting factor in unstable overclocks due to heat surely you would go for a board that can handle the overclock your aiming for, there is enough factors that cause unstable clocks why not eliminate most of possible?

if you read through my posts heat has been an issue for me vrm wise what i was asking is the sabertooth gonna do any better than my current board.

i dont always think most expensive is gonna be the best far from it but the stats and results speak for themselves with the crosshair ;)

very impressive GinG considering your board dude here's mine

not a lot in it really m8 slighty better cpu cause i upped fsb a tad, but no masses tbf good going m8 :D

Not bad for £570 all in :)

Got a few tweaks to go over the coming weeks, bet I can get it a little better but for what it took me to get here...about 30min in total not bad results :)

Edit - also wonder if running Vista will effect any of my scores??

1. i'd say you done great there dude few tweaks any you'll have a monster there

2. not sure on that one tbh

looking good though m8 i just tried your settings from you pic see what i get on windows 7 and post bk :D

Windows 8 handles more cores better than 7, but it won't be massive. I expect Vista will be quite a bit behind though.

It's fine if you ignore Metro and just use the desktop - basically identical to 7.

ahh so not ground breaking results may hang of a bit

i seem to always wanna spend improving this thing when i dont need to, im sure its more obsession than passion now need to break this and get back to gaming dam you forums lol, after i put gpu under water! :p

:D

be happy with what you got.. otherwise the whole point of a pc to you will be nothing but overclocking with the goal moving further and further away til youv got no money and no fingers after freezing them off in a liquid nitrogen cooling gone wrong post :D

lmao dude your so right i was happy with 4.5ghz but then wanted more and it keeps going im gonna get 4.9ghz stable as possible and stic there, iwas gonna stic with 4.8ghz for everyday use but considering voltage and temps i think 4.9ghz wont hurt here :D

battlefield will take up all my time soon, anyways i have medal of honour and it said i can get beta but can i? NOOOO i cant grr. hate origin

A nice little community is forming, brings a smile to ones face. :D

+1 to this never thought asking a question about my cpu would make the thread go this far :)

All the amd users are out in force intel who? Good job guys lets keep it going

My own progress bk down to 4.8 for my 24/7 use more than enuff really low temps and voltage so Im happy. After a week gaming with it im chuffed really responsive and destroys all games. Only thing left to do is put gpu into my water loop
