*** Official AMD Phenom II X6 1055T & 1090T Overclocking Thread ***

well I just cleaned and reseated my H50 and turned 1 front case 120mm fan to medium and the top fan to medium so will see what happens

so far after couple mins prime95 the temps are 48C down from 53C :D but not sure I can keep fans so high for the sake of my hearing sanity .. used MX3 by the way

So there is :D I'll bung that on later, see if it fixes my bios multi issue.

As atm the multi you set in the bios doesn't effect the CPU, it changes the Turbo multi

So I'm having to use AMD Overdrive to set my CPU clocks and turn off Turbo.

well im only priming to test my temps .. lol ... gained a whole 2whoopingC with top fan running full but at least motherboard temps have dropped by 3wooppeedoodahC

I should have just left it as it was , dont think MX3 improves with age does it ?

Reseated mine, but only shaved 2C off my load temps :(

Ah well.

Now at:

3.9GHz
1.375V
2600MHz CPU-NB
2200MHz HT

Currently passed 10 loops of IBT @ V.High, and 20 loops of Linx @ 4096MB

Will set it off priming for 8hrs in the morning

EDIT - Bit more testing shows 1.375V not quite stable, moved it up to 1.4V and its passed all tests so far. Prime in the morning.

dare I ask what your supposed to do with the cpu-nb :D

guess you have to up it 1 notch at a time until it wont boot and then add volts and repeat until it gives off smoke .. lol

sounds like its getting complicated .. lol

happy @ 4Ghz via multi and current vcore I think ... at least I have some headroom for temps if we get a scorcher summer as it sounds like upping cpu-nb will cause more heat

I will wait and see what you achieve and may test it in the future but for now .... call me Chicken McCozzy :o

With a high core OC you really need to up the CPU-NB as well, otherwise your cores will be twiddling their thumbs waiting for the data to reach them.

well just for you I upped the cpu-nb

2400 on stock volts boots into win7
2600 would not boot at all and tried volt increase upto 1.48v but didnt wanna push into the red without finding out what you guys think is a safe max level

spose I have to waste 8 hours priming now . lol :(

Dropping my CPU-NB from 2400 to 2000 shaved 5Degrees C off my temps! My problems are related to having four sticks of RAM - it needs 1.2v to make it stable without oc-ing the CPU-NB - 1.3v will get me to about 2400 but the system gets awfully hot inside....

Also noticed the AS5 is settling as max load is now 55Degrees C (1.42v@4Ghz) - going upto 57 Degrees C if I also do other stuff whilst running prime.

It's always a good idea to leave some room for about 5degrees C more on your system as come summer time it will overheat if your not careful - thats what you call a good 24/7 overclock ;)

You will find in games your load temps will never get anywhere near your Prime temps.

2hrs of L4D2 last night and my max CPU temp was 42C, under prime it hits 55C.

Rather large difference!

Surprised you can't get your CPU-NB higher, mines running 2600MHz on stock CPU-NB volts with 4 sticks @ 1600MHz.

another 4Ghz @ 1.42 ... BOOO HISSSSS mine needs more vcore than the others .. lol

must have been the ball of fluff incident :D ... IBT 20 runs standard and 20 runs high passed 4Ghz @ 1.46v and now with 2400 NB didnt change any volts for that & now priming

motherboard wont boot and auto resets if I try 2600 ... does ram speed matter or FSB ? .. my ram is @1333 but can do 1600 according to corsair

EDIT : ------ OK think Im getting confused ... what a surprise ... bios has NB Frequency and HTT Link Speed ... I originally uppes the NB frequency which wont go above 2400 but the HTT link boots @2600 no voltage changes

so is it NB frequency or HTT link im supposed to up .. lmao .. NOOB alert
