*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

Did a bit of playing early to try and drop temps and I'm really surprised at the results :)
gaming temps before ;system 44 now 33C
8800 gtx 85-90 c now 70-75 c
the cpu is the same but at 38c I'm happy the pwm is still a bit high at 53c but as I'm not sure which part of my system this is its difficult to drop !
Any way this is what I did ;
1 cut away the grill on the rear fan to improve air flow .
2 removed all the rear slot grills
3 mounted the psu upside down and removed the plastic dividing the top and rear compartments to extract heat away from the gtx.

I was hoping for a little drop but wow 15c on my card is great
as a bonus its less noise now as my card fan dose not need to work so hard :D

Looking forward to pics..;)

Here's my attempt:

Not quite as neat as some of the other P182s in this thread, but it'll do me! I replaced the stock fans with Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000s, and hooked all 4 of them and the CPU fan to a Zalman MFC-1 Fan controller.

I can't believe how quiet the whole thing is; with all the fans on low I can barely hear anything. Even on the minimum settings my temps are lower than they were with all the fans on full with my old case.

Not bad I think. Although the guy at ASUS who decides on the IDE socket placement needs a whack. :p

So far so good. Just doing a XP installation as we speak. KVM switches are great :D

Hi there,

I am looking at installing the same PSU with the P182, just wondered whether you had to use any cable extensions?

Anybody Painted the inside of their case Black to look like the Special edition?

Think that would look very cool.

Too much work tbh for an interior only the builder gets to see :)

I did some dust cleaning today, not posted a pic yet with the Freezer7 and GT installed before I don't think so here goes

Whilst the case was relatively dust free compared to other cases I have had some minor dust does still get it in seems, the 5.5" bay plate covers for example where you poke your fingers through to clip them out are open holes so dust can get in through those easily.

In a word no, if you use the Corsairs. It will depend where the 4/8 pin 12v connector is on the mobo, and the length of the cable from the PS.

Mine just reached. Having said that, I routed the cable all the way round the back behind the mobo. My connector is virtually under the HSF. I have 3 sliced fingers to prove it. :p

Edit. Sorry, just realised this was not aimed at me. No idea about the OCZ power supply.

I'm thinking of getting this case, atm I've got an Eclipse 62 which I am very pleased with but need to change my wife's case to get better airflow and cooling so will give her the Akasa and get me a new case. Compared to the Akasa, how good is it.

My main concerns are dust, quietness and cooling obviously. Does it cool just as well with the front door closed and how much noise difference is there with the front door open? Will my Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme fit and any front panel extras e.g. x-fi and card readers etc.

Door has vents all the way round, so in theory, it should make no difference whether the door is closed or not. There is plenty of room behind the door, no worries there. the case is extremely quiet IMO. My old Antec AMG660 was quiet, but this is even better. 2 of the fans have a switch on the back of the case for low, medium and high. Fans are noisier at medium and quite loud at high. But at least i have an option when its warm to crank things up.
Still depends on you GFX and CPU cooling though. Too new to have any dust issues, but i assume the dust filters will do a reasonable job

As for the cooler, i posted something similar in another thread. I have the Noctua HF12 cooler and it fits easily(see picture in my post above). The Thermalright is 5.5mm higher, 6mm wider & 4mm narrower, so you should be fine.

There is a demo video about this case on Antecs website which is quite informative.

ordered a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, should be able to tell you in a few days.

dust shouldn't be any problem if you clean your dust filter regularly. there are no dust at the bottom bay, and in the top bay, i only see some dust behind the front fan, elsewhere are all dust free.
