Hi - interesting idea to use the fan from your stock Intel cooler to cool your RAM, especially given most of us will have one or two stock coolers in our parts box. How did you mount the fan? (any chance of a pic please)

see the black ribbon power cable that loops over the motherboard? (top right corner of mobo) the fan from the intel ref-cooler has little clips on it for attaching to the heatsink. one of those clips fits very firmly onto the cable. pics tomorrow if i remember.

Cool idea - I'll have a look at that over the weekend. My RAM now has competition for the extra cooling though, as the fan on my cheap x1950 Pro card is way to loud and I may try the Intel HSF on there first ;-)) I'm sure there are plenty of cheap stock Intel HSF on ebay if I need another....

Guys, I've just been looking through this thread because I have a P182 and I saw this pic of this Tuniq Tower on a Gigabyte board - I have a similar setup, but my tower is the other way round? When you look into my case you can read 'Tuniq’ on the black fins.

Have I fitted it wrong?

Im not sure if fitting it vertical or horizontal is an optional thing is it ?
Isn't it dictated to you by where the holes are on your mother board ?

Ignoring that, you do have the hot air from the CPU being blown onto the GPU, making the top fan blow out and turning the cooler round would be your best bet imo.

Ok, thanks for the succint reply :p

Do I use two cables in that case? (The 'fan only' cable plugged into the 4-pin y adapter?)

Thank you for your help.

i just used a normal molex (not a fan-only one) and daisychained all three fans together and plugged them into the molex.

I'm thinking of getting a P182, but I need to know the exact height of it. The Antec site says it's 21.3 inches (52cm) high. However 21.3 inches is actually 54.1cm! So is it 52 or 54.1 cm tall?

Would some kind P182 owner please measure the height of their case for me with and without the dust cover on top.

Cheers! :)

Nice thread, I'm definitely considering a P182 for my next build (hopefully v. soon). I notice in some pictures the plastic section looks kind of gray, and sometimes it looks black... what colour is it in person?

I'd also like to see some more external shots of the case if that's possible, cheers!

big temp drops

Did a bit of playing early to try and drop temps and I'm really surprised at the results :)
gaming temps before ;system 44 now 33C
8800 gtx 85-90 c now 70-75 c
the cpu is the same but at 38c I'm happy the pwm is still a bit high at 53c but as I'm not sure which part of my system this is its difficult to drop !
Any way this is what I did ;
1 cut away the grill on the rear fan to improve air flow .
2 removed all the rear slot grills
3 mounted the psu upside down and removed the plastic dividing the top and rear compartments to extract heat away from the gtx.

I was hoping for a little drop but wow 15c on my card is great
as a bonus its less noise now as my card fan dose not need to work so hard :D
