*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

had my P182 for a couple of weeks now.

here's a (rubbish) pic:

for my first attempt at cable routing, i don't think i did too badly.
since that pic i've changed the crap Noctua fan for something more beastly, and i've placed the fan from my intel ref. cooler above the ram (REALLY helps to keep the ramtemps down)

The CPU cooler you have looks like a Thermalright Ultra or one of the Thermalright ones, How does it fit in the case as im thinking of grabbing one for mine at the moment ? , Got a P182 SE ( mirrored finish )

Just got one of these beasts, awesome case. Just wondering whether there was any way to cool the hdd. Took it out after a couple of hours to sort something and it seemed really hot. Or is that normal?

Thanks RS, they actually look like some I saw at Costco the other day. Gonna drive up to Milton Keynes and check out Staples and Costco up there.

Does anyone have any tips about how to handle cabling in the bottom two compartments (PSU & lower HD bay). I can't figure out how to reliably make sure that the cables don't hit the fan blades while its spinning. Seems odd that Antec didn't put a grill / guard on either side.

On the left side, route power cables under to the back and up. The biggest problem is the other side, as you have SATA and power cables right next to the fan. Pre-bend the sata cables, or use 90' angle sata cables.

tis a horrible Noctua NH-U12f or something. i'm not much of a fan of it, i'd much rather have gotten a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme.

Fitment wise with regards to the case? it easily fits. one bit of advice, when building, go in this order:

PSU --> Mobo --> ram --> cooler + fan --> everything else.

otherwise attaching the fan to the cooler is very very very very...

very very difficult.

Thats a great cooler ,low noise keeps my overclocked Q6600 under 38c whats not to like  Its also had loads of awards !

I agree. When I ordered my current rig recently, the Tuniq`s, Scythes etc were out of stock. Checked a few threads on here and nearly bought the Freezer Pro, but in the end I ordered the Noctua. Very nice piece of kit. Very quiet, even without the low noise adaptor. Easy to fit (more so on a new build) and build quality is very good. Actually comes with a fan, and a decent one at that. Cooling performance is more than good enough. To cap it all, compatibility is very good as regards motherboards.

What`s not to like? :)

i've already told you personally as to my cooling woes regarding it.

i only bought it because i didn't realise that an Ultra-120 Extreme was the same price. :(

Hi there,

I'm ordering this exact spec in a few days and I was wondering how quiet the system is? Do you think after market fans would be a good idea or can you hardly hear it?

Thanks.

Its very quiet. No need for after market fans IMO. Just stick the case fans on the low setting.

:)
