*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

Thanks MRK, I want to replace the fans as I think the sharkoons will be much better for airflow. The extra cabling issue is so I know I have enough length on things to hide away out of sight.

Hi There - I wanted to offer a word of experience on the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 fans. I recently bought one and tested it at full speed (2000 rpm) and I have to say I was disappointed with the noise level - airflow was good but at 2000 rpm it is certainly too loud for my taste (even louder than my cheap GPU fan!). I don't know whether this is down to fan construction or just a side effect of running at such a high rpm. If you're planning on splashing out on a few Sharkoons and running them at full rpm it's going to be loud.

I have an Scythe S-Flex 1600rpm fan on order to replace the Sharkoon as Scythe's 1200rpm fans have been very impressive and have great reviews. I've not managed to find an reviews of the Silent Eagle 2000 - only the 1000.

Hey guys

I'm about to get one of these after lots of reading and I just have a few questions around cabling.

I want my new rig to be nice and neat, I'm replacing all the fans with Sharkoon 2000 120mm fans and fitting the Zalman ZM-MFC1 fan controller. I'll also be fitting a fan to the thermalright ultra extreme.

Will I need any extra cabling items to make my life easier? and if so what will I need please. I intend to hide as much cabling as possible.

I will also be using a Corsair 620w PSU.

Many thanks.

I've got the exact same setup as this (4 Sharkoon 2000s, Zalman MFC-1 Plus, Corsair HX620W). You won't need any extra cables as the Zalman controller comes with pretty long fan cable extensions. You'll have plenty of extra length to hide all the cables.

I'm assuming you're going for the newer MFC1 Plus here rather than the older MFC1? I'm not sure what the MFC1 comes with since I have the Plus.

Mine has definitely quietened my computer down, for £50 I really can't complain!

I'll be starting a mini project log sometime next week as well about a water cool build & P182, have to get my camera sorted!

well got mine all setup today, new PSU and CPU Cooler turned up which was nice.

Overall impressed with this case its fantastic, and System temps have dropped around 6c my CPU idle temp has dropped 10c thanks to the new cooler :D

Anyway some pics. (click for full size)

My next upgrade is a sata DVDRW i think.

Ive had my P182 running now for a month or two in a dusty environment, the other day opened up the case to fit more ram and had a few cans of compressed air ready to rid what I though would be horrendous amounts.

Opened it up and ... clean, there was a small amount of dust but just the odd gathering in the corner, the fans and heatsinks were all still perfectly clear :D absolutely love this case, adter having a lian li pc7+ that used to hoover up dust left right and centre I was pleasantly surprised

I bought one of these cases used and it came without a manual. Sadly, when I went on Antec's site, I saw that there were no pdf versions of their manuals available for download. :( I don't suppose anyone has an electronic copy of their manual handy...? *waggles eyelashes flirtatiously*

Very nice! Thanks! The diagramme in there was very useful... useful in confirming that this isn't in fact a P180/2, but some custom-designed case Antec made for some OEM or another (probably Asus, since there was a sticker on the inside side panel explaining how to install an Asus motherboard:p).

It seems to be lacking the middle fan that's supposed to go behind the upper 3.5" drive cage, although there's space for a fan to go in front of that same drive cage...

It also has a weird plastic thing that screws on top of the expansion slots and has an 80mm fan holder inside it, presumably to blow air onto the graphics card (I've removed it, at least for the time being, I'd rather use one of those Zalman brackets and fit a bigger fan on there).

It doesn't have the scifi-looking cover for the top fan, although there's a few notches up there which suggest it's supposed to have it and it's simply missing. Doesn't look as cool without it, but functionally doesn't matter. Small loss considering I got this for only £20.

The weirdest thing about it (and I don't know if it's just this or all P180/2 cases) is that there's a small plastic compartment on the side of the upper 3.5" drive cage that can be opened and closed with a little clip. There's space for maybe a few screws and a small screwdriver in there, so I assume that's what it's for, but it's still a bit of an "eh?" moment looking at it wondering why your big massive metal case has a small black plastic case inside it!

Hey guys, some of you might know me n some of you might not... basically I mod and watercool cases for a living (life of riley I know).
