*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

There isn't one available.

It would go against the grain of what the P182 is desgned for, silent running (as the side panels are made of 3 layers for sound deadening)

Sorry for the naff image, I plugged my PC all in so couldn't get a decent pic hehe (its on the floor about 1m away from a wall).

Only two negatives I have found with the case and thats the naff tri cool fans you get with it (replaced the lower one and added a upper chamber fan, both scythes), secondly the cable management isn't as good as I had hoped - corsair modular PSU's flat cables are a pain if they overlap and you can't sneak the SATA cables around the back of the motherboard either (atleast, not with 5 hard drives).

I forgot to mention - I snapped the lower chamber fans holder bit that clips it in place, I had to wedge some neoprene rubber in the gaps to secure the holder! All because I couldn't get the rear side panel on due to PSU cables and had to disconnect one from the PSU and re-route it (was to lazy to take the fan out OOPS).

Yup. I only had the '62 for just under a year. I regretted it after a few months. '62 rattles so much due to HDD vibrations and with 5 HDD's it made the case very hot, I even added a kama bay AND drilled holes in the side panel to fit another fan and my temps would be about 38-42c idle on a warm day. My 8800GT would be around 58-62c idle too.

Currently in the P182 the CPU temp is around 33-34c idle and its quite warm today (windows closed at the moment too), 8800GT is idling at 53c. However I haven't switched the rear/top tri cool fans yet, they are useless on "low" and not much better on medium (but louder).

That said, the '62 front intake made a loud "whoosing" noise due to poor case design IMO (I had a noctua 17dB located there), so I had to have it on a low voltage to keep noise down.

When I first booted up the P182 the tri cool fans didn't turn on and my PC was really quiet, I didn't think it was on (even with the side panel off!). Once I adjusted the fan controller on the rear of the case they came on and made their noise.

Another niggle which I hated about the '62 was that the usb/audio ports where all individual connectors and the usb ones were fine to do but still annoying, however the audio ones I couldn't get to work properly so had to plug my headset in the back which is a PITA. P182 has nice little "block" connectors you just plug in and they work fine for me (using the HD audio connector too).

So I just did my first window mod...I wanted it to look professional so was tempted to go to a service, but I'm a DIY guy and wanted to learn how to do it.

Here are the results, I'm pleased with how it turned out actually. Can't see much inside the case yet because one of my cathodes blew out, need to replace them. You can only see a little glow and my X-FI power light.

Nope not the mirror finish. It's more of a brushed aluminum look, and I didn't know there was one either when I bought it. I would have preferred the gun metal black but this smoked window mod has brought me around to liking the silver now :) Although I'm sure it would look great on the gun metal as well

might get a new case so i can use current one for new build or a modding project. looking for a tower style matx case. has to fit the spec in my sig.

if i had money to burn id definatly get this one instead of a matx case as it looks the bees knees http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ase - 1200 Watt Neo Link PSU (Gun Metal Black)

but im thinking about getting this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ent Midi-Tower Case - No PSU (Gun Metal Black)

so i can have a small gaming rig. im just reading up about it, anyone got any real life pictures of it?

or i might just go ahead and get something fairly decent like the lian li pc7 and window or maybe a eclipse (bfg???) and use that.

Hey.
Just got this case and i am installing a DVD drive. Is the DVD suppose to be flush with the case, with the other bay covers, or is it suppose to be an inch out?
My second question is probably the same as the first- should the drive be free to pull in and out, or do i need to force the rails behind the metal stoppers in the case?
Cheers.
