*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

I've since moved on from this case but I built a p180 build log:

but for the lazy heres a pic :

I'm thinking about putting a new fan in place of the mid bay, and keeping the lower fan where it sits as standard.

Any got any suggestions for a decent (not too noisy) fan for the job?

Was thinking the same but for now have moved it to keep my gtx cool , not sure if that lower fan does much .
The acousticfan along with the standard P182 noctua fans are the least noisy.

Ok, thanks. I was deliberating for age at the weekend on whether to shift the lower fan to the upper bay or keep it where it is. Looking through this thread made me think about it a few times but with 2 Spinpoints in RAID0 I wondered whether it would be a bit foolish taking the fan away from the drives?

Does having the fan in the upper bay have a noticeable affect on the CPU temps?

had my P182 for a couple of weeks now.

here's a (rubbish) pic:

for my first attempt at cable routing, i don't think i did too badly.
since that pic i've changed the crap Noctua fan for something more beastly, and i've placed the fan from my intel ref. cooler above the ram (REALLY helps to keep the ramtemps down)

i'm just building mine (p182 and noctua fan/heatsink), what did you replace the Noctua fan with?

What makes you say its crap
Its low noise and keeps an overclocked quad core below 40c during maxed out stress testing (with fan on low setting )

i wish. my Q6600 runs at around 50C load and 40C Idle. with the Noctua fan it ran at 10C+ respectively.

the noctua fan just doesn't move any air!

where do all you people get the plastic thingy at the end of your GTX's?

just got a GTX, and want one of those

its metal. it came with the card. i don't think it really has a purpose but there was a "warranty void of removed" sticker on it so i left it alone.

my cards an nVidia brand card.

It does on mine ,I have it turned down from 1300 to 960 rpm as we speak 31c (oc to 3.3 )
you got it blowing the right way ;) Might be worth resitting the heatsink and maybe using less arctic silver .

I presumed it was just a fitting handle and removed it but wondering if it might help disperse heat !

its not connected to anything other than the PCB, so i doubt that.

as i said, i didn't remove mine because it has a warranty-void sticker on it (and i had the room :D)

i don't see how changing the orientation will help in the slightest? hot air rises, thus, having it blowing up, directly at the large extractor fan can only be the most effective orientation?

i used as much arctic silver as was reccomended by them on their website.
to be honest, i'm not bothered about the temps and fitting the cooler and fan was hard enough. taking it off and putting it on again gives me a cold sweat.
