*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

Looks like an excellent game from the vids around, although I think it would get on my **** that the guy slows to a walk to jump a 2 foot fence... I'm pretty damn sure that even carrying a weapon I could jump that at a sprint.

Don't forget a bergen weighing around 60lbs(more with topped up liquids), 20lb belt with ammo and all.
You don't just leap over a fence without stopping to slow.

Its hard on the system, I struggle (25-50fps) with 2x 4890s, 6GB DDR3 and an i7 @ 4.5Ghz :(
There seems to be a rather major bug though, graphics options make no difference to the FPS and the CPU is never more than 50% utilised. The difference between everything on minimum and everything on maximum for me is ~2FPS

What OS are you running? Lot of people with Vista/7 needing the -winxp switch in the shortcut to get both cards running on the ATI side of things, I had to rename my .exe to crysis for SLI and im now getting 50-60fps, although MP seems a bit odd I appear to be capped at 32fps.

Win 7 x64, with -winxp -maxmem=2048 (anything higher has no effect). It is definately using both cards, but everest shows that both cards are around 40% utilised, and cpu usage is usually around 50% on core 1, and 1%-20% on the others. Seems i'm not the only one either, on the official BIS forums there are threads for both GPU and CPU under-utilisation. Hopefully they can fix this with a patch soon!

I know they mentioned that there will be a new ATI driver released soon to fix some of the issues but I thought they were more to do with with visual glitches than anything else, hopefully that may sort it out for you though!

Just tried that out F2kSel, scored 4521.13 at 1920x1200, seems to be about the norm for my sort of spec! Interestingly during the whole arma2 mark, cpu usage didnt go above 12-14% and both GPUs usage was always 44% each.

Also no matter what I try I cannot seem to force Vsync off so quite a lot of the benchmark was artificially limited to 60fps.

Edit: managed to disable vsync, score went up to 6242.99

Does the CPU and GPU usage go up now that vsync is off?

From looking around and reading a few forums there does seem a bit of a bottle neck somewhere.

I dont really think that there is enough in the way of AI to stress the CPU to much, but the there does seem a bottle neck somewhere, after the patch came out I run at 1920x1200 with the OP's settings and got around 5500, and then I run it with my normal settings which are nearly all at very high and still got around the same score, so in some ways it does appear to be CPU limited?? I havent run it with V-sync so not sure on what id get there. It does seem very odd though with different settings hopefully itll get better with patches, ArmA from the start to the latest patch is like night and day in performance!

I bought ARMA gold edition when it came out but never ever played it, just had a blast and it's really fun :)

Couldn't notice any lag totally maxed out at 1920x1200 with 2x AA, is the new one much harder on systems?

Its very difficult to play with fraps recording, it introduces a half-second delay making movement and aiming really hard :(

That air battle was amazing!

Does anyone know of any tourney type site that will be playing this. I dont mean like Clan Vs Clan type tournements, I mean a structured army vs army.

Example...

When BF2 came out I joined a site called BF2Combat.net when you joined an army you were then placed in a sqaud every thurs and sunday was battleday for 10 hours. Each army battled each other over maps. Was hundereds of people involved and the armies were structured like real life (well sorta). You had your infantry div, armoured company, spec ops and air cav/force. Was pretty awesome tournement, really enjoyed myself there and I dont think i would have enjoyed the game as much if i hadnt of played there.
