After reading the pcgamer review, the only downsides they came across was the A.I and it being quite demanding on your pc. But apart from that they enjoyed and now i cant wait to get it. This will be a purchase from me, ill probably get it off steam though.

Did they say the AI is really that bad? Do they still shoot you in the eyeball from 600 metres away?

That's the sort of ArmA AI I'm expecting, worked the last time didn't it? *cough*

Really looking forward to this one, the vids popping up online look great.
 
I'm returning to PC gaming after 3 years of Xbox Live almost entirely because of this game. It will def be an epic game. The co-op will be off the scale.


Guys, does anyone know if you will be able to activate Arma2 within steam with a retail copy? I've never tried to register a steam product via a cdkey. If this is possible, I'll def get the retail on the 19th.

I had HL2 years ago which i used the CD key to work online with STEAM. ME personally will be buying it direct through steam. Easy fast and who needs CD's :D
 
The reports of the AI and some of the vids look very disappointing.

AI targeting a tank with a pistol and refusing to shoot a soldier who is walking two meters in away while shooting the AI's legs.

AI really that carn't Drive a truck on a road without stop,start, reverse and turn around ect.

AI that carn't take off from a runway and then crash into if they do manage it.

AI that can see you at night without night vision and still take you with a head shot while your behind a bush.

AI that Know where you are the instant you trigger a satchel bomb.

I don't have the game but I have been watching the youtube vids, I've seen it all before in OFP and Arma but I'm still going to get it.

When it does work there's nothing quite like it.

At present, you are unable to add retail ARMA II games to STEAM, if you want it on STEAM then you will need to buy it on STEAM.

That is what I am doing anyway as discs are too much of a faff.
 
Only reason I would buy through steam is the idea of using the servers tab on it. Might make it easier to add/search for games and favourites?
 
Yeah running one here with it at 1920x1200. Running it maxed out, but its a bit sluggish at times so I'm going to scale the settings back a little. Not sure if its a driver or game issue.

I see in your sig that you are using Vista isn't that a bit of a slug when it comes to Arma2?
 
I love the complaints in this thread about the AI

The AI in both arma and arma 2 have always been good at killing you
Because if one AI sees you he tells all his buddies so they all know your position
Also they AI react to sound if they hear you they know where you are ( they also tell their mates)
In arma 1 there were some bad bugs with bridges , you order ai across a bridge they sometimes go down the bank and then try and swim across :-(

Tho the best posts are from the tards who havent even got the game and played it yet

I've not had any problem with previous games under vista maxed out, but Arma 2 is quite intensive, especially if you push the view distance up too far. I'm not entirely sure that both GPU's are being used though at the moment, if not and when its fixed, its going to fly.

EDIT: oo just noticed the final german 1.01 patch has been released today, ill try it when i get home and see if anything has improved
